Finally got everything I needed and installed all the goodies. Once again Frankencar came through for me and delivered within a week. I highly suggest contacting them first and making sure they have something on the shelf before you order and get your hopes up.

The D2 install wasn't bad. The one on the front driver is making a little noise, cant make out exactly where it is coming from yet. The ride is nice and tight. Came back from a long trip and had to cross through a super twisty road in the backwoods of Kentucky. The D2s performed extremely well.

How do you like the FrankenCar Exhaust so far?
I've just checkout your webpage. I don't see any aftermarket Y-pipe or header installed on your car? Nice car you got there, btw.

 

It is probably only dropped 2" total. At first it was real low, but I took it up when I got home and put it at what I feel was a safe height.

The Frankencar exhaust is real nice. A bit tight to put in, but good to go now. I used an exhaust hanger like you said to keep it tight and off the car. It is real quiet which I like over what I had. I am going to get the hotshot headers or catman headers in the spring and then the pipes will sound perfect, but right now I like it quiet. I am not affraid of the local PD pulling up behind me now.

I think I lost a little bit of power from the Magnaflow setup, that setup pulled the hardest of the 3 setups I did. It doesnt matter though, the Franken is still providing better power over the stock, looks good, and will sound real good when I do the headers.

Actually no. The stock exhaust and the Frankencar are about the same... Maybe 5-8 lbs difference. There is a little sound added, but very little. Once you go to headers or a Y pipe though, it all changes.

After 4 different setups on my car, I think I can claim the "Unofficial Exhaust Guru"

Up to 10# is nothing. The SS-exhaust materials will probably last for lifetime of the car. The most heaviest part of the exhaust is the muffler. This is due to the extra insulator materials inside the muffler housing.

Unlike my fartcan GReddy (but I still love it)... the FC sounds great, esp with the headers...

 

i love my frankencar exhaust.. soemtiems its too quiet.. but then i remeber.. headers are comin on shortly then it will sound sweet.. i still havent fixed my exhaust hangers soo it bangs around soemtimes.. but im used to it

 

Yeah, after I had that loud exhaust taken off, I honestly didnt know if the car was running. :/ but it is all good. I too will have the sounds of headers.

For the banging... get a hold of an exhaust hanger and wedge it between the cross section and the pipe, then use some device to secure it. We used a zip tie that runs up into the rubber and back out. It has not banged anything yet. That and the steel tie-rings from franken on the rear... it isnt moving.

 

thanx alot bro .... i used to have a greddy catback it was way way way too loud with the headers.....now im finally happy with this exhaust setup.......ASk POLO.....i botherd him day in and day out on what exhaust i should get haha

So do the headers make the greddy exhaust to loud? I figured with a nice resonator it wouldnt be loud at all. Man that FC exhaust sounds sick with the headers!

 

I would say that you're right... a GReddy muffler with any well resonated B-pipe would be less loud.... at least that's what I'd think, based on how small the resonater is on my GReddy B-pipe and what I've seen with the Cattman and FC B-pipes, since those 2 have the most quiet exhausts...

 

I think you would need a resonator larger than the greddy can....

You have to remember that the headers removed two pre-cats and opens up the size of the pipes. I dont think any resonator will make it sound normal after doing headers. Even the stock exhaust is going to sound beefy after a set of headers and a new B-pipe....

 

Looking at your posted pic, the area where you "wedged in the rubber bushing" isn't the same location that I had talked about. I used the hose clamp (2-included) and wrapped it around the stock rubber hanger and tighten it to push the muffler higher for clearance. The banging noise occurred at the rear of the muffler (upper edge of the muffler's canister) where it would hit the car frame over heavy road bump. But hey if it works for you, then there is another solution to the FC-catback banging noise issue!

 

Yeah. My exhaust is so tight we were hanging on the end of the tips. and it didnt move. There is plenty of clearance on the back of mine, but if you look close at the picture you will see a little rust on the cross section, that is where my exhaust has been knockin around for the last year, and this setup was tight there too. So that is where we used the rubber stop.

There is no banging at all on mine, although I am keeping my eye on this tight spot next to the heat shield. With a stock setup, this exhaust is def quiet. maybe too quiet, but if you are going to do headers or a Y... well, that all changes and I cant imagine going with anything but a catman or frankencar. just my .02

 

I just have to say that I am very happy with these D2s. They are real nice once you have them dialed into your likes... Today in heavy rain, new toyo tires, wooo hoo, I was 100% confident in my car for the first time, and was driving as if there was no major water laying around. The D2s and the tires are def my best mods yet. I can't say enough of how my car feels now. I have been waiting for this so long. The maxima should have come like this, or at least close to it with a "SE" package. Not sitting 5 inches off the tires.

At less than $1k the D2s are well worth it. Time will tell if we all still feal the same after a year.
