Opinions on clay bars, polishes, and waxes...please
Hi guys,
Eventually (read, after football), I'm going to go through and detail my car. I'll be washing, then clay-barring, polishing, and then waxing. I already have Meguar's (too lazy to learn how to spell correctly) NXT Gen. Car Soap. I'm looking for your opinions on which clay bar, polish, and wax to use, and please include price. As for the wax, I'm looking for something that will last the longest. Also, please include what brand microfiber towel to use for which application, too. You guessed it, but I'm a newb....haha. Thanks in advance.
Lou

CLAY MAGIC! If you want long lasting protection use meguiers # 20 polymer sealant and top it off with a wax if you want. If your paint isn't all that bad just use Klasse All In One instead of a polish. The Klasse stuff is kinda expensive, I bought 32 oz for 30 bucks, but if you want a little i can give it to ya for cheap. And finally use 100% terry microfiber towels.
what is better about clay magic kits? i did my car yesterday with meguiars clay bar. the only ones my local parts store had were mothers and meguiars. meguairs was a bit cheaper so i picked that up. seemed to do a good job. the paint is super smooth and it pulled lots of crap out. car looks great
Between the three brands the Clay Magic is the most pliable and easiest to use.

I like the Mothers clay, though I have not tried any others. It is plenty pliable for me, and works quickly and effectively. Around here, you can buy the Mothers kits at Advance Auto Parts. I think Autozone sells the Clay Magic kits.
As for a good polish, (like Prinz said before) I can't really recommend a polish without first seeing a picture or two of your paint's condition. There are many different polishes that are meant for specific purposes and applications.
A good wax...well since it sounds like you want to go out and buy this stuff locally, I would recommend Meg's NXT. I've found it to work quite well, and it's probably the best wax you can buy at local stores. Meg's #26 yellow wax is also very good from what I have heard. You should be able to buy that locally too.

Sorry for the delayed reply, and also thanks for everyone's input. I don't have pictures up yet, but I can describe my paint for you:
-Deep Evergreen (Is that the correct name?)
-Swirl marks galore...
-water spots (prob. from hard water..)
-many scratches too, some purely surface, but others exposing white
Hope this helps!

I use sonus clay bars...they work amazingly, and they even have a "perfect shine" kit that hasnt failed me yet. In conjunction with Einzett polishes and Klasse sealants and S-100 carnuba as a top wax, I havent found anything that looks better. (you can get all of them from autopia-carcare.com)
As for Zaino, Ive found that it is more trouble than its worth. Klasse, Einszett, S-100, Zymol, can all do the same (and in some cases better) with alot less time and effort.
