I made a thread about carputers in the audio and electronics section. I will be running a P3 1.0ghz with 256mb ram. I'll have wireless internet thru my cell phone and a xenarc 7" touchscreen monitor in my dash. Later on i will add gps, wifi, and whatever else. Basically what you need to make a computer work in a car
1. either a DC-DC power supply (Opus- 150watt $200, very expensive but some say worth it) or a power inverter and a regular computer power supply. Both have their advantages and disadvantages but if you have the money i would get an Opus.
2. computer
3. Some kind of input device (touchscreen, mouse, notebook touchpad, keyboard.)
4. Startup shutdown controller if you decide to use a power inverter (Opus has one built in)
5. optional: WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, anything else a computer can do.
6. Patience to install everything and get it working.

If you are looking for a good program to use with your carputer for songs, vids, gps i downloaded Mediacar and it is awesome, even got a nissan skin.
http://www.teamrcp.net/moremods/Alpi...pine_skin.html
theres tons of different car skins for mediacar here

Click on a resolution and then scroll down and download the nissan one, its pimp

Just Reading the Specs on the Drivesoft, i compared it to my Pioneer Avic-N1....

Navigation, XM Radio, TV Tuner, GPS NAVIGATION, MP3 Player, DVD, and Touchscreen...

Avic has all this with additional features, vehicle dynamics (3 digital gauges), back up camera compatible, Digital EQ, and all in single DIN flipout monitor....but the drivesoft is probably cheaper....a lot cheaper......

I was thinking about doing this but i decided there are other things i want to worry about first. When i was researching it i went to mp3car.com, that is a great site to learn more about it. If you want to try it before you install it you can download the program and install it on your home computer, it wont hurt anything.
