Better question: Where do people find 6th gen donor cars for $1500......and somewhere within 300 miles of me. I'm not a car dealer, so I don't have access to copart.com either.

heh

You don't really have to. Find an engine (as low as 800$ on car-part) and scavenge the remaining parts here and there. You can get the MAF for under 200, the ECU for 100-200 and the rest of the wiring/fuse boxes should be pretty cheap. As for sensors and whatnot, they usually come with the engine.

For tranny, just keep your 5-speed, it fits and will hold the extra power (ask supercharged guys). It aint a tank but it's decent, and you have less drivetrain loss than a 6-speed. Tilley is looking at doing this swap with the full 3.5 engine but 3.0 ecu/wiring. Easier, if it does actually work, but you lose something like 25-30 hp in the 2000-3000 rpm range because of the lack of VTC.

30HP is alot to make up dont ya think....he would be better off modding his 3.0L ....i know its prolly a pain to match up wires form the 3.5 ECU but 30HP on the low end is worth the time in my mind

Yeah... probably right... but when you got your head under the dash and a big headache trying to figure out where every little thing hooks up it might be different.

I'm more of a "do the work for me and I'll pay" type. I work too much. On the flip side I'm lazy for this stuff. A walking paradox

For me since I'm auto, I figured a donor 6th gen 6-speed would be perfect. More power, fun/better shifting. Of course, I'm dreaming. I suppose I'll continue to look around (for cheap 6th gen donor) until my drivetrain dies.

I'd love 255-260 HP with 6spd for under $1500. Heh. I got another vehicle, and plenty of saturdays, sundays to mess around and work.

No. The VQ35 is overall 35 pounds LIGHTER than the VQ30. It's the same block. If you also change your entire exhaust system while you're doing this swap (like me) and getting rid of the AC, you might make your car like 100-120 pounds lighter, and alot more powerful, not to mention with a lower mileage engine.
