do you mean it smells like gas? on our cars, it happens alot cuz the cold weather causes the fuel lines to shrink and shiznit like that so gas fumes come out

Here is so cold that even one of the nordic towns is called Hell sink in... Warm city melted through the permafrost... Seriously, its cheaper to travel in winter, cause all roads have shrinked and at -40 u get 10% off from the lenght of u trip...

Luckily maxima has such powerfulr gaspump that it can expand my pipes enough.

thats what i was thinking. i usually wait til -40 degrees to take trips, that way i save on gas and distance traveled. its better on the car. not to mention there is nobody on the road so its easy to get around.

Funny guys.... It doesn't smell like gas... But it is an oil-based smell... I'm stumped...

Hmm. Life is funny ... it smells like shoe-shine stuff...

Seriously, please be more specific to zoom on your squirrel puzzle: how the smell is related to this warmup u do? At what point after startup this smell starts? Driving? Do u think it comes from the inside? Does fan have an effect on it? Does the temp ctrl adjuster effect it? How 'thick' the cloud is, can u use the car...

The only thing I could imagine is A/C leak, however dunno how it smells... my nose is maybe too flat. Second is the pipes that become heated and have some slick on 'em. Dead squirrels? Do US squirrels use shoes like the mouses...

I get the same thing with my Max. It's a weird smell that I can't really identify, but every winter it comes back. Seems like it would be a heater thing, but I don't really think it appeared when I used my heater in temperatures around 50 F or so. Strange.

Well.. I get the remote starter in the morning to spool the engine up. The ACC is set for 25.0 degrees with the widshield defogger mode on. It only started during the winter and it usually idles 5-10mins before I come out. Smell disappears after warming up (usually after the temp hits the second bottom bar on digital dash)... No greasy pipes that I know of. They're all dry from the outside.
