Window tint removal question

Well my rear tint started to bubble like mad, so I was a dumbass and just peeled it right off not thinking anything of it, but now I have the leftover glue residue. So I read that using ammonia is good in helping remove it, but would 3m adhesive remover be better? I remember using that stuff when making the door pillars the body color and removing the glue there. I just am trying to figure out the best way so that I dont screw up my rear defroster lines by cutting them with a razor blade if I need to scrape at the window. Thanks

A lubricant and razor blades will work the best probably. I've never tried adhesive remover on tint glue before though...

they way they do it at the tint shops is to put a plastic bag taped around your rear window and spray the window with ammonia and let it sit in the sun for a few hours.

yah I read about that, but being its winter in ny, I dont think it will get hot enough to effectively work. I do have goo-gone looks like its time to experiment, anyone have any ideas how much to replace rear window defroser if at all possible?

Window tinting removal.

I did the same thing. I tried 93% rubbing ahcohol and a wash cloth. Keep the cloth very moist and then the "stuff" will come off in a jiffy. You will have to keep folding the wash cloth because it will become gunky from the glue. And you will need more than one wash cloth. But the glue comes off very fast.

with the steamer it took 25 min to do both rear windows and back window, defrost lines are mint, just apply stream to an area for about 30-45 sec and you will see it start to peel off on its own and taking the residue with it so you dont have to scrap it, steamers are like $25-$30, and they are great cause u never have to iron your cloth again either!!!! if anyone else STILL gonna use razorblade/paint thinner/whatever else then i give up

I just wanted to give a BIG THANKS to those who recommended using a steamer.

I went to WalMart and picked up a $30 steamer and spend about an hour and a half and everything came off really easy (I did the back 5 windows).

No damage to my defroster lines and it saved me $100 by not having to take to the pros to remove.
