Why are my tires losing pressure so fast

Ive posted this in general, but since i have a 5gen i want to hear what other 5gens have to say. Ive noticed about a month ago that i would lose about 4-5psi of pressure in my front tires and 2-3psi pressure in the back every two weeks, is this normal? I usually pump the tires up to 36psi in the front and 34psi in the back. These are not new tires or rims, havent had any accidents, and all tires lose pressure not only 1 or two. Im not sure if its the weather. Could it be that half the week its parked in my garage and not being driven? im really stumped any suggestions would be helpful, thanks.
Im riding on stock 00 17"rims with falken ziex 512 tires.

I don't know the explanation but i do know today i checked pressure before heading up here to TN and my tires were all 4 at least 4 psi low. the rear were only around like 28 which was really low, but they didnt look low. I'm stumped too

Often times tires lose air pressure as the temperature gets colder.

increasing & decreasing atmospheric pressure can move pressures around as well as the temperature.

Tires are probably old. I've noticed that the seals tend to get worse over time (could have something to do with my driving...). Anyway, if it's that bad, take the tires off and re-install them. Might as well check for nails at the same time.

yeah, since this cold weather started, the tire that has a slow leak now seems to have sped up its leaking tendencies. i think im gonna try some fix a flat. maybe you should too, unless its ALL your tires, than gbauer may have it there.

DON'T USE FIX-A-FLAT!!!! Just take it to a tire place and have them re-mount the tires. It'll cost you more in the long run if you use the fix-a-flat. First you have the cost of the stuff, then you pay to get it removed when you get new tires. By that time, you're up to $15 per tire whereas you could've paid $10 a tire to have it done right...

Besides, that stuff is dangerous! Guys changing tires have been killed by that stuff because it's so flamable. The fumes stay in the tires aft they are filled and wait for an unsuspecting tech smoking a cigarette to open them up. You can imagine where this is going...

hmm, thanks, i didnt know most of that. how do we take care of a slow leak then? have a tire place take a look at it and try and find it with the water/soap method, and then plug it?

Have your tire place check for leaks with the soap and water method. You would be surprised how many nails and such are laying around the roads waiting to puncture tires. If no leaks are found then have them re-mount the tires and clean the beads on the rim and tire before doing so.

Maybe you still have summer air in your tires. Best replace with winter air....

LOL........

Check your stems (no, not that stem you perverts). They are a common leak/failing point.

Im going to check Thursday morning. Going to pump the tires to around 38psi and then will put water around the stems to see if any bubbles arise, if not then it could be the weather is having a great effect on my tires.

No way would the weather be affecting your tires that much. You definitly have a leak somewhere!

Today i went to the Tire Shop and had all my tires checked out. No nails or leakage found anywhere. When i told them what was happening they told me that when it becomes very cold thats its normal for tires to lose up to 4psi every two weeks. I dont agree with the statement but nothing was found so now im clueless, anyway i ended up getting them all of them balanced and i guess i will just have to check my pressure every two weeks now.

every pothole u hit looses .05 psi.......u better watch out for them pothole races in NYC......I told u it's them potholes, but u wouldn't lissen....every time I left NYC, I loose like 20 psi on each of my tires........

The weather is a bigger issue then potholes, either way im always on pothole watch and as discussed before any state that has snow, ice, and salt, will have potholes, you cant single out NYC.

Colder Air Decreases PSI, meaning if you have 32 stock "COLD air" and temp drops you will loose easy 4psi, it starts from 35- below. after driving air pressure goes up , 32+4= hot air pressure after driving. 36psi should always be all around the car if you've been driving all day. now if the car sits all night and temp drops, you will lose 4 psi, in the morning, instead of getting 32 u will get like 28, at that point fill up your pressure up 4 psi to even it out. i keep my tires at 33 so after driving ot work or back if my psi drops below 37psi, i add some, and in the morning b4 work check your psi, if its below 32, u need air. temp increases will increase ur psi, decrease will lower psi. i have the same issue with my ford explorer, thats 35cold psi, normal is like 39 hot air / 40.
always keep one psi more, it doesnt hurt, but and it will increase ur gas mileage.
i have new falken ze512 tires, with under 8k miles on them and brand new explorer 04 with 6k under miles. and no its not the tires or rims, its the weather.

wait till temps drop 5 degree's ur gona be driving with very low compressed air in ur tires.

So i guess the important thing is to check your tire pressure more frequently in the winter, for all those that didnt know, and if you lose a lot of pressure it can be the weather.
