A supercharger won't damage the transmission directly. You have to realize that Nissan designed the Maxima automatic transmission to handle 190 horsepower. If you increase the power of your engine, and use that power, you are putting an excessive burden on the transmission. Installing a transmission fluid cooler will help, but don't expect the transmission to be as durable as it would be in a gently-driven unmodified car.

I blew my Clutch with in the first 1000 miles of installing my SC. The clutch dided at 43K miles. Thats all right though because I was going to upgrade it anyways.

No problems on my high mile Maxima

I had 85,000 miles on my 96 Maxima (purchased in Sept of 95). I now have about 99,000 miles on it and it is still running strong. I have not upgraded the boost on my AT car but I have added a recalibrated valve body as well as a tranny cooler. Future modifications will include a smaller SC pulley for more boost, water injection and maybe NOS injection.

More likely, a Blow Off Valve will help engine life.

I had my sc since Oct. last year and the install was done perfectly. The only problem I've encountered is slippage on the drive belt during the winter months. Too much condensation and wetness.
The BOV just releases the excess air pressure buildup.
A tranny cooler and Don's valve body mod would be more helpful to the tranny.

WELL I GOT MINE IN OCTOBER. I HAVE A 99 AUTO MAX. FRIED THE TRANNY IN JUST OVER 3K MILES. GOT A SECOND TRANNY. FRIED IT WITHIN 2K MILES. NO ONE KNOW WHY IT FRIED 2 TRANNY AND IT WAS NOT BEING TORCHARD. SOME MECHANICS I HAVE TALKED SAID THAT MY ENGINE MIGHT JUST BE MORE POTIENT AND HEALTHIER THAN MOST. ANYWAY, I HAVE A LEVEL TEN TRANNY ON THE WAY THAT WILL BE MODIFIED SOME MORE BY A FEW ENGINEERS I KNOW. I SHOULD HAVE THAT PROBLEM AGAIN.
