How to clear your gauge needles without sanding them.

I recently cleared my gauge needles and since I had a spare set of gauges I experimented a little. I took NON-ACETONE nail polish (CVS brand) remover and put some on a Q tip. I took a thin piece of cardboard and cut it out to fit under the needles to protect the gauge face from the nail polish remover. That is very important because the nail polish remover will damage the gauge face if it comes in contact with it. This removed all the orange from the back side of the needles without the need to sand anything. The added bonus is that the needles don't have that dull sanded look and they are perfectly clear.
I then did the 194 solder job but with stop light halogen bulbs. The gauges are super bright white. The only thing that worries me is the heat build up from these hot halogen bulbs.

i worry about my xenon white bulbs behind my guages too!!! i turned them on to test them out for 5 seconds and i tried removing them from the socket behind the cluster and burnt my fingers. then i went driving during the night for an hour and i could of swore i smelt something burning but not sure if they were the bulbs or not.

Halogen is dangerous behind the gauges. Those bulbs are sure to get too hot over a period of a few hours driving at night...

i think he put higher wattage bulbs in there tho in that case the heat could cause a problem
