Intelligow Needles: Rice or Not?

I am considering getting a sonic-blue needle kit for my Max...yes, I know they don't fit since we don't have lexan needles. BUT, I am going to get the Lexan needles off of a 4th gen if I want to do this. I have already done the LED-swap on my window switches, so it should blend nicley. It would cost about $100 total, but I don't want to do a mod that looks all ricey...so, whatcha think?

bottom of #1 on the list of thinks required for them to work:

"Needles that are solid all the way through will not work."

5th gen have solid needles, they wont work

Hence, why I said I would be getting 4th gen needles, which are lexan-based...

I voted option 2. The red or orange color needles would look cool. Blue is just to

You have a 5TH GENERATION Maxima. It doesn't matter if you purchase 4th generation Lexan needles; it won't work, as your ORIGINAL needles aren't clear.

If you can make it work do it. Don't let everyone else put you down.

YES, IT DOES.

Jesus christ, some of you people just don't get it, do you?

YOU CAN MAKE THE NEEDLES IN A 4TH GEN CLEAR BY SANDING THE PAINT OFF THE BOTTOM. YOU CAN ALSO USE THE NEEDLES OFF OF A 180 OR 240sx.

The is the first time I have ever taken a truly defensive stance on this form, but if someone is going to TRY and prove me wrong, how about having the right ****ing info before posting?!

PS - Everyone also said that you can't make the instrument cluster brighter either, but well, I DID!

And what the hell do you know, pu$$y?! You're the one too coward to put in SE gauges due to your fear (or ineptitude?) of being capable of calibrating the instrument cluster needles! Don't go around thinking and saying things can't be done because you are personally too afraid to do so!

Why do you even care? Why even post a question like that when you should already know the answer?

You should decide for yourself what looks ricey on your own car. Never mind what people on this forum think about it. If you like it, go for it.

I think it would look hot if you can manage to do this mod on the 5th gen. Personally I think white would look real nice specially if you have brighter gauge cluster. Hmmmm, perhaps it would look like the Lexus gauge cluster? Man, those things are bright.

Go for the mod, you might be the first 5th gen with this.

Let's keep it civil in here. The next attack I see or even receive a complaint about will result in permanent banning of all parties involved.

Consider this the first and only warning.

is that what your doing with this whole gauge modification? What are you getting the kit for. If your gonna get the needles from a 4th gen, what is the kit for? Is it just a simpler way of buying leds/bulbs,meaning they are already bundled in a package rather than buying everything seperately

My next project (amongst all of the others) is a new cluster project. I ordered some 20000MCD LEDs, I am going to make a stencil using prototyping board to place behind the overlays. This should give the ULTIMATE in brightness, I just have to wait until they come in...and I find enough gall to mess with the needles again!

Well, did you see this writeup? 4th gen mod
I want to do that exactly,i just need needles that can be cleared,so theyll glow white. The guy that wrote that has a 4th gen and he just scraped the red off the needle, its my understanding that our 5th gens can't be sanded clear like that. So i'm looking for a 4th gen cluster,or better yet just the needles.
I think metalmaxima is doing something a lil different than me,but along the same lines. We're both in nj, but they are independent projects. (until he gets his working and i enlist his skills).
If you try it out though, update me on it

if it works, make it a kit and sell it, you could make some nice extra cash on it. enough people on this board have sweet ideas, but i dont see many of them working them into products.
(and yes i know it is cause they often dont want to get sued)

Petah's work is what inspired me to do any mods!!!!

I would like to do his cluster mod, however, I am happy with mine as is. I'd rather have something original.

For this elitiest crowd, definitely rice. I recommend doing it, it is something different and will probably look good. It should be adjustsable anyway. Any color is fine, but seems like hyper red is the only available option.

you obviously have NO CLUE what you talking about!!!

it will work as ive changed the needles in MY 5th GEN to clear<from 4th gen> for the same purpose.. the only reason i never installed was cuz the stupid cheap needle light kit BROKE while trying to install.. so i put indiglos instead with clear needles
