Max starts then quits unless I press the gas

has anyone had a problem with the maxima starting up and running very rough then stalling if the gas is not supplied? What could be the causes of this? just started immediately now will not run unless you gas it constantly? I did install an intake about 500 miles before now? Please any suggestions are greatly appreciated...OH yeah I did the computer check and it game me the 0505 code witch means that there is no problem detected..thanks

Remote possibility that you need to adjust your ECU screw a bit. On my 95, the ECU screw effects idle. If I don't turn it all the way back correcty, my car shuts off right after start up, unless I gas it..

Okay I did check my ecu last week, but my question to you is if I didnt turn the ecu screw back right would it start up like that all the time? Because Wed 2weeks ago I checked my ecu and it didnt start acting up till that Saturday. Then I had Crank sensor replaced Friday and didnt start acting up until this morning. I would think the ecu if that was the case would constantly do that. Also it only dies when the engine is cold or outside is extremley cold.

Had the same problem when cold, the car would start but then imediatelly stall unless I hit the gas a bit. Went out and bought a can of throttle body cleaner, around $3.50. The throttle body was covered in black soot, cleaned out, and now it starts, and stays running without having to apply any gas.

The throttle body assembly is factory coated with some sort of smooth enamel. Once it gets covered in soot it's no longer smooth and prevents good airflow hense the stalling. It also will improve gas milage.

It could be a number of things. After spending $1400 at a dealer to no avail, and all the hassles a dealer brings without mentioning they finally got a technician with 30+ years of Nissan experiance and within a few hours he narrowed it down to a faulty ECU that needed to be replaced. Luckily we didn't have to pay a dime (would have been $1600 for the ECU alone) since we told them we had already paid so much and nothing was solved. So, my advice would be to take it to a very experianced mechanic and just get the car thoroughly checked out.
