Taking Daniel Martin's advice, I isolated the noise in my front suspension and found the top of the driver's side front coil spring was moving a little when the steering wheel was turned. The spring seem to tense a little and then release, causing the sound. It seems as though perhaps the top of the springs are not properly seated. Any thoughts on why this would be the case? I recently did have the front strut inserts replaced but seating the top of the spring would not seem to be such a big deal that it would go wrong. They did seem to make the same noise before the installation, but maybe not so noticeable. Or could the spring possibly be damaged in some way? Thanks for any help or advice.

 

What do you mean you had the front strut inserts replaced? Did you have your OEM struts replaced? Or do you have aftermerket inserts like Koni?

 

I had KYB GR2s installed in the front to replace the Nissan OEM strut inserts. These seem to be working fine as far as I can tell.

 

I have this creaking sound that still exists after installing completely new suspension (springs and struts). So I' at a loss as to what could be causing this.
