my friend has one of those well I don't really know that guy but he drives a camry adn its V6 so he thinks its the fastest car on earth and can smoke any sedan + with 3 big guys in his car it looks cool! Today I was following him down the road for a block he floors it and think his car is so fast adn stuff then I floors it at 40 km/h too like a second or so later and by like 70 I had to let go because I was gonna hit his tail if I didn't...
if I race that guy from a stop light 0 to 100km/h how far ahead do you think I'll be? I don't want to past him like half a car then brake then follow him adn turn I want to pass him and merge into his lane by 100 km/h under WOT think its possible? he has the 94ish V6 camry

Race him for real and find out. One person in each car. Off-line, Driver reaction will play a big role in who will win at the end. Since his is a 94 model year, it has the improved 3.0L 188HP V6 engine. Even though it has 2 less than your 4th generation, they have a super slick transmission with shorter gearing and all of their power is at the mid-upper end of the rev band where as your VQ is more of a low-midrange type engine. Really, this car pulls harder as speed rises and doesn't feel sluggish above 100mph.

You know how your VQ performs. Since most people say that the 1997-1999's are alittle slower due to emissions, I'm sure you guys will be neck-to-neck all the way. Cheat a little. Break torque, have 1/4 tank of less gas, take out your spare. That will at make you lighter and you'll have a better chance of winning Unless he does the same thing...

I've never raced a 4th generation before with my moms Camry. I have driven a 4th generation SE many times and they feel quite different. Like I said, the Camry will pull fast once its revs are up and it sure does feel like it rev faster since (quite possibly shorter gearing), but the 4th generation will pull fast off-the-line.

my peak HP is 5600 and the camry's is 5200 so why would it the cam pull harder highend except for shorter gearing?

you should take him..

I have a friend who is exactly the same way, (must something about all Camry owners ) He has a 92 LE V6 auto Camry, and he talked mad **** for ever, (still is) One time we finally got to line up a couple of times. Once we started off the line we stayed even side by side, then once I hit 2nd gear I began to pull on him a bit, especially when I was at 4+ rpm! by 3rd, FORGEDDABOUTIT! We didn't get over 85, but I was at least a couple of car lengths ahead of him.. The second time we did it, I floored it and again, by 2nd gear I was pulling away....

If my POS 93 SE with beat up auto tranny can take 1, I'm sure a VQ can as well.
My car handles better then his and I'd say picks up speed better... Only thing i like about his Camry is that it's quieter and the auto tranny is smooth as silk.

Well, the Max has the slight edge, but in the real world, it will be a toss up. I think it will mainly depend on the driver. If you react quicker and get the jump, you will win. If he gets the jump, he will win. Both cars weigh approx the same and have approx the same hp, so they will be about equal in a stoplight race.
