i hear alot about shaving one of the stubs off on the clearance light, what does that mean

 

If you look at the clearance light, you'll notice that it has bumpy vertical lines. Those sound like they may be the stubs. I dunno if it would be that easy to shave them off, though. Sounds hard. Someone prolly knows for real

 

i used a grinder... it was pretty easy took like 10 seconds... i did this rather then we wiring the corners to make them brighter

 

You never did mention what it was you used a grinder *on*.

This is about a 1157 LIGHT BULB. It has two elements, a bright one and a dim one. You can't put it in backwards because the way the little nubs on it are. One is higher than the other. You need to remove one to make them reversed, bright is dim and dim is bright.

The way you do it is to remove the higher one. Hold the bulb so that the glass is pointing up and the base is pointing down. See the two nubs? See the one thats higher up? You need to remove that one. Use a grinder, a file, a dremel would work great. Now put it back in the socket turned 1/2 turn from the old way. You should now have bright corner lights.
