i noticed my 91 max heating up almost all the way to the top of the guage after it had been idling for 30 minutes....then i popped the hood and noticed neither of the fans were on, the fuse by your knee is fine, but there's a relay i think labeled (if i remember correctly) "inhibit" that is missing in the engine compartment , it's the 2nd from the left I think....the other 3 rad fan relays were there but one was a diff. color from the others....anyone had any similar problems with their relays and their fans not working?

 

Any one else ever had problems with their radiator fans not working correctly? I know my old civic had probs with the fans and they were very temperamental. Is this a similar problem with maximas?

 

Blame the relays!
grab a multimeter and start testing.

 

check the coolant temp. sensor. mine was doin' the same thing but i had all the relays and the fuses were fine as well. do what internetautomar says but if all fails just check the coolant temp. sensor. if u unplug the plug from the temp. sensor the fans will turn on and that will tell u that u have a bad sensor thats how i tested mine to figure out if it was bad.
