need a pulley

Guys
I need some help locating a tension pulley. I was driving today when all of the sudden I lost my power steering and the max started to overheat. I checked her out and the belt that runs the steering and water pump broke. Come to find out the tension pulley seized and snapped the belt... Ive looked all over and online and cant find nothing. I'm trying to avoid the dealer if possible. If I cant find nothing by the end of tomorrown then Im going the dealer route. Does anyone know where I might get one? Thanks Jose

BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT. mine snapped completely off. no parts stores could even order em, had to get one from a junk yard from a maxima that was about 5 minutes from being crushed. it meant climbing up the pile of cars and standing on a ford econoline. but I got it.

I'd say salvage yard. the dealer will rape you.

good luck.

yeah it was interesting climbing a pile of junked cars for a pulley and tensioner I ended up payin $5 for. but I was desperate. I've driven without a/c belts, I've even driven without alternator belts, but the power steering/water pump belt is a must if you wanna drive for longer than 7 minutes

OT: when i bought my car it did not have an ac compressor, and it was only run on one belt (that was a rig)!!!! Now it has all three belts and an ac compressor. Back on topic, If you cannot find the part online then I would say go to the junk yard. I think there are a few people on here parting out right now...maybe you can check with them.

just purchased one today from Nissan. Cost me 105.37. Special order part which I should get by Thursday. I went ahead and ordered the AC belt and the alternator belt while I was at it. I didnt have the time to check elsewhere. Hopefully by Thursday evening I will have her back on the rode. Sarin sorry for the lack of contact but military life is crazy these days. Been going back and forth to Iraq and finally got some down time. I'll hit ya later. Thanks for the advice guys. Jose

Just think the next time that youll need to replace it is when your timing belt needs to be replaced. When I had problems the first time it was my tensioner that went out. They recommend you get a new tensioner when you get a new timing belt put on. Mine disentegrated into pieces which caused the timing belt to break. I lost power just like you did before it shattered, but like an idiot I pushed on the gas harder thinking it was me. $1550 dollars and two new heads later Im back up and running again.

I think he was referring to the tensioner for his water pump/power steering belt. yes though, I've heard to get a new pulley when doing the timing belt.

Got my parts on Friday and Maxi is finally back on the rode. New pulley and all new belts. The pulley I believe was also the cause of me having some steering issues with the car jerking. She's never rode any smoother. Just wanted to give you guys an update. Jose
