Pilot Sports rubbing

Just got Michelin Pilot Sports AS 235/50/17 today (2000 SE 17") and there is some rubbing when the steering wheel is turned all the way. Other than that, they feel great!

1) How bad is this - will it hurt the tires?
2) Is there an easy way to solve it?

Thanks

I have the 235-70 17's also and mine rub once in a while too...no big deal...have not noticed any damage at all. Very rarely they rub...unless the wheel well is filled up with snow after a storm...then they rub alot. I just usually wait till the streets are somewhat cleaned up, then go to a self wash place and blow off the crap out of the wheel wells. You'll love these tires

the wider tire is causing the tire to rub i'm guessing the fender. 245= width 50=height (from ground to wheel)

From what i've heard, the 2000-2001 have a better turning radius than the 2002-2003, i'm guessing because the stock wheel/tire combo is smaller?

If its rubbing bad it will cause the corners of your tires to wear out quickly. Maybe they will wear out so much that they will stop rubbing... lol

2kSE and 2k3SE: turning radius = 40ft

2kgle and 2k3 gle: turning radius = 37.xxft

i had very slight rubbing when i ran the same tire in 235/50/17 on stock wheels and maxspeeds. the rubbing was a small portion of the plastic cover in the wheel well. i pushed in where the rubbing was and it never resurfaced.

just the plastic wheel guard. i had rubbing on the top inside portion and a corner of the front facing the motor. remember, that size is wider and taller.
