contemplating i30 front end on my 95 maxima...any input?

well i'm getting some insurance money because a dumpster rolled into my bumper and scratched it up, so i should be getting ~$730. i was going to just get a 97-99 maxima bumper cover, but am thinking, maybe i should order the fenders, hood, bumper, and cefiro headlights. i am going to call Certifit tomorrow on those parts. the maxima bumper was $25 and change when i called them today. i know they sell the maxima hood and fenders for fairly cheap, but i'm wondering how the i30 stuff is.

has anyone had to replace their front end and how much were the parts? i'm trying to figure out if it's even worth it or if it will cost too much. my maxima is pearl white so it's a 3 stage paint which = $$$ to paint. i was also thinking i could get some of my money back by selling my fenders because they're in good condition and my hood isn't bad. the only damage to my hood from the dumpster was a slight line creased near the edge, but it is barely there at all so maybe i'll just get it fixed.

any ideas or comments?

I've thought about it before, but I prefer the Maxima's front end over the I30's. Why don't you just do the 97+ conversion with a lip? I'm not sure how much it would all cost, but you might be able to throw in the cefiro's at the same time.

i think just having the lip looks funny and like the rest of the car is lacking, and i can't afford to get the rest of the kit and have it painted.

Aren't I30's wider?? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I don't know, if that's the case, then probably not worth the effort. The front looks square, and to put that on a rather curved body in my mind won't really fit.

i'm pretty sure everything underneath is the exact same. it's built on the same chassis, i think it's just the outer panels that are different. you're right that they do look different, but so do 95/96 v. 97-99 bumpers and they bolt right on. it's not the CAN it be done part that i'm thinking about, it's the SHOULD i do it.

i wonder how much i can sell my 95 ae'd headlights/corner lights. how much my fenders would sell for, and my hood. any ideas?

i was thinking about the cefiro front end conversion also, just so the cefiro one-piece headlights wont have that gap

yes they are. the only differences is that trim piece that goes across the side. the i30's is a little wider.

I30s may look wider but are the exact same size. The doors, frame and all parts are the same. However every cosmetic body panel is different. You could get a Cefiro or I30 front end conversion. You would need a hood with grill attached. I would also recommend getting Cefiro Headlights over the 2 piece I30 headlights even if you stay with the US I30 front end.

i think the i30 front end is hot with cefiro headlights. i say go for it. all you would really need is ,fenders, bumper cover and hood. and headlights ofcourse. i think the most expensive part my be the hood. try a junk yard.

Don't forget about a few things, like yo will need both the fog light and turning lights from an I30. They are very hard to get ahold of used and new from the dealer will be about $250 or more for all four of them.

the radiator support is different as well. there is a local guy that doesn't really post on the .org much that has a '96 w/ an I30 front end.

I've seen a maxima back home that had an I30 front and it was really really nice, completely changes the look of the car, it makes it look so much like.... i dunno but it stands out alot to anyone who's got a keen maxima eye

I'd like to know too. I had a fender bender and they're going to change out my whole front end for a 97, but they haven't ordered anything yet. If it's a direct bolt on then I might as well make my Max look totally different.

sorry for the delay. i sprained my ankle pretty badly friday so i haven't been home or around a computer.

i called them and got the prices. they did, however, say that it might take 2-3 weeks to get the fenders and bumpers. the hood, iirc, was $120, front bumper $80, and fenders were $60 and change. so that's roughly $335 with taxes, then i'd need the cefiro headlights ($200) and the foglights($xxx).

i'm still debating whether or not to do it. i got $209 from insurance so far and will be getting $500 more once they get the dumpster company to accept fault. i'd love to do this, but am not sure if i'll be able to do it as i don't have any money aside from the insurance money to do this project...(broke senior in college)

how much would i be able to get for each of my qno maxima fenders + hood? i also imagine i could sell my ae'd headlights/clearance lamps and make most of the cefiro cost back. the only real thing i'm concerned about is how much it would cost to paint all this once i have the parts. my work does business with lots of body shops, but i don't know how great of a deal i can actually get so the cost of painting scares me. any thoughts?? i'd really like to get this done, just still trying to figure out if it's economically doable.

just found this in the i30 forum: http://www.headlightswholesale.com/c...1996&model=I30

there is a local i30 f/s that just has a dead motor because the guy apparently had a big oil leak and didn't notice so the rest of the car is in good condition minus motor. 5spd too! i would buy it but have no money whatsoever.

thanks man, i'm gonna try to get it done. still waiting back from the i30 guy and hopefully working it out with zack.

the only thing now i'm concerned about is if the insurance money will be enough for me to get the hood, fenders, and bumper painted. $700 is a lot of money, but not a lot when getting half of your car painted. i'm gonna call/ask around all the body shops my work does business with and ask if they can hook me up.

So the body panels will bolt-on? You don't need to replace any mounting brackets or retainers or anything?
