Just replaced water pump...having problems

I just replaced my water pump, it was the hardest thing i've ever done on my car it took 7hrs. I was told that there would be a chain rattling noise for a little while (drive around the block). But I have driven over 20 miles and still hear the noise. Also my main reason for changing the water pump was because of a coolant leak, but its been 2 hrs. since I finished and there is already a puddle of coolant under the front passenger side of my car!! what else could be the problem and how long does this chain rattling noise last??? And since I changed it my check battery light keeps flashing on and off about evry 20 sec. Also my e-brake light comes on simultaniously with the battery light even though its all the way down!! what could the problem be???

dam dude ...... if i were you i would
#1. get the car up on some ramps. then look for a leak........let it idle and look around.
#2 . the position of the car on the ramps will work some of the airpockets out.....
#3. let it cool. then recheck everything ya did.....look around sound like you pulled some wires around or something......good luck

I dont know I changed my pump like 3 weeks ago, and theres was a loud rattling but the sound went down. Mabey you left the timing chain a few degrees off. Check all your hoses, radiator.

now my car keeps dying, I dont know if it is the battery (dont think so less than 1 year old), or is one if the drivebelts too tight/too loose???

the rattling is bubbles in the system. It's supposed to go away. As for the brake/battery lights comin on and off, that usually indicates a problem with the alternator. Check the belt tensions first... and then have your charging system analyzed for free at kragen/autozone/pep boys.

I had the same leak in the same spot. I thought it was the water pump too. When i took it to a mechanic, he said my block was cracked. I think because the previous owner did not keep sufficient anti-freeze in the car during winter or the car overheated too much with low amount of coolant. I'm gonna get a second opinion though. Good luck.
