Level 10 Torque Converter...Worth the $$
Hey guys how much improvement in my acceleration times do you think I can expect with the Level 10 billet torque converter (stall speed at 2600-2800 rpm)? Level 10 quoted me a price of $598 for the torque converter. Does this sound about right and do yall think the performance improvement is worth the cost? Does any one here have a Level 10 T.C. and how do you like it? Last question- does Level 10 build quality products? Thanks in advance.

Try 5th gen forum, it's been talked about it...
They are the same thing as Protorque converter, actaully Level 10 uses protorque converter!!!

Protorque......
I didn't have the L10 TC but I did have the protorque model. I know it was well worth the money, since I had ported heads with ISKY cams installed. I needed a higher stalling TC so I could reach the power band quicker. BTW Diederik do you remember the day that Don installed your VB? Also when he was showing us how is car launches with the TC, I remember the tach getting 3000rpms with some wheelspin (with 3 passengers in the car
). In car after the TC I could get a 3000rpm launch just as easy. Now in daily driving the only difference I noticed is that the TC felt "loose" below 2000rpm. What I mean by "loose" is that it seemed to have less response at the same rpm compared to the stock TC. However the protorque TC reved up about 100-300rpm quicker than the stock TC ever did so it more than made up for it
. Don't forget if you install a TC replace the rear engine oil seal and both drive axle oil seals. That way you won't have to do it again since they are new (then again your car is new anyway so it doesn't matter), where as mine was up in age. Lastly if you ever decide to goto the track get some smaller wheels/tires. If you are able to fit stock 4th/3rd gen 15's with some 205/50-15 treads. Your final drive ratio would be the same as having a 4.0 gear in place of the stock 3.62. TC + 4.0 gearing = quicker ET and better acceleration, not to mention you would be able to pull away/on cars you couldn't before.
