If you want quality stuff lose all the Rockford. People are going to tell you to get Alpine Pioneer Eclipse headunit and stay away from Best Buy and Circuit City. Everyone has their own opinon. I think Hifonics and JL amps are good some people like Phoneix gold, Eclipse, and Power Acoustics amps.

i don't know much about car audio, my old system was all lightning audio (but still sounded GREAT), LOL. My advice is to get a HU with a remote and SW controller, so you can turn it up and down without affecting the bass of the speakers. I'm not sure if this is standard on all decks, but it would definately be a priority on any future purchases.

I can't say anything about RF and stuff, but I can vouch for Pioneer, Alpine, and Panasonic. They are all high quality and I would rank them in the order I listed them. Whatever you like, go for it

Go to onlinecarstereo.com for probably the best Alpine deals right now.
Also look for a deck with at least three 4 volt preouts to run the amps.

There is an audio and electronics forum...

There are levels of quality based on how much you want to spend.

I have never had a problem with Alpine HUs. I have had many of them over the years.

The things I have in my car, I can recommend. I have an Eclipse DVC sub, Phoenix Gold and Rockford Fosgate amps and my speakers are Diamond Audio.

diamond audio are good, so are arc audio, rainbow, etc etc

i'd say lose the 10s, and get something better from adire or ascendant audio. both are known to have excellent drivers for SQ.

Eclipse or Alpine for hu

Rainbow, MB Quart, or Focal for components

from my own experiences, i'd suggest an alpine or clarion HU, or pioneer as long as you don't get the few they sell at wal-mart. MB quart components, and a JL or Hifonics amp. As for your subs, It is all about taste. Do you want SQ or rattle yours screws out, either way check out local stores and listen till you find the one you like.

Yeha out of all the lower priced units the best 2 as far as durability and sound quality are alpine or clarion.Any of the Kenwood excelon that have 24it DAC are a nice unit to but starting to get up ther ein the dollar range. The next in line would be going with eclipse or the nakamichi cd-400.. up again from that woudl be a Denon,Mcintosh or a nakamichi cd-700 but for those you are looking at a couple grand just for the head unit and most of those are only a pre-amp with no built in amp in the deck.

As far as i am concerned stay away from sony products as they do have a tendency to just fail for no reaso and have bad SQ.I know there is going to be people chming in that they have a sony for a long time and enver let them down and it sounds great. Also ditch the 3 1/4" and get some 6.5 components liek mentioned before.

I just noticed you said budget is no question so i it was me i would go with a nakamichi cd-700,Memphis belle 1500 ( 4x75 1x1100 rms), Infnity kappa perfect 6.5 components in the kick panels,6.5" Adire Audio Koda midbass in the door, amd go with either a RE XXX 15" or a Adire Audio Brahma 15" but then again for that setup woudl be around $5000 -$6000 (estimate)

I just rambled on alot
