Aiming fog lights upward (had this done today)

So today my friendly neighborhood service tech. paid me a visit and aimed my fog lights all the way up (it's for a project I'm working on). The result is fantastic. I thought perhaps they'd glare a lot, as was suggested by a number of people here, but they don't. Why is the result fantastic? Because the re-aimed fogs make an incredible difference in lighting distance. Not only do they drastically increase illumination for the road that is immediately ahead, but also they add an additional 10-feet of light (if not more) to where the H4 halogens stop reaching. It's a great way to gain distance and not bother oncomming drivers.

I looked at the fogs myself from a head on angle at various distances and they didn't bother my eyes at all. The amount of light they spread down the road is very well worth adjusting them upwards. I'd love to take some pics, but my digi-cam is so shot to hell that everything just comes out to be a blur. I'll borrow my cousin's, toy around with it and see if I can capture the results.

Why wouldn't it be? There's nothing illegal with aiming lights. Unless you're asking me about my project, then yes...that's legal too. But it's top-secret, because it's pretty original.

I aimed my fogs upward too. I can see signs from further away. They produce a lot of glare though; too much for uncoming traffic

I haven't gotten a single high beam all night. And I took a look myself and they don't glare at all for me.

me and my buddy switched cars and I had him drive towards me from about 1/4 mile away and they look like highbeams and they do blinded me. I had to lower them. I know I would definitely get pulled over

That was the reason I was asking if that is legal...they seem to be blinding people just not arnold .

Heh. That's very weird. I'll walk down a block when I was looking at them and they didn't bother me at all. I mean, I passed by various hiding cops (speed traps) and they didn't even budge. Keep in mind the roads were empty and I was the only one around when I passed them.

Polak: You're more than welcome to take a look in person if you wish. They aren't blinding at all.

Stock halogens, duder. Which is largely the reason they're not glaring.

So...how do you re-aim them? I thought they were fixed in place.

on my 200sx, i aimed one fog light almost into the sky..lol...so it lights up road signs very well and doesnt annoy oncoming trffic. The only thing that bugs me is that from far away it looks as if that particular one is brighter than the other one

i also wanted to do this, but when i got my super plasmas, they are a lot brighter than the stock halogens, so im not really gonna go and waste my time doing it, since it will only be a small improvement...

Well, I will be putting a higher wattage bulb in there...so creating glare is something I purposely wanted. (I have a reason :P)

Yeah, something like that. I don't want people copying this...so check your PMs. I'll explain it there.

Did this also when I changed my fog bulbs, I noticed when I got the car the fogs were pointed at the ground 5 feet infront of the car. Now they are aimed with the headlights.

To aim the fogs turn the screw behind them.
