Frankencar Intake Soundclips

Hey guys... people have asked me for similar clips in the past, but I never had em and still don't... anyways, FYI, Steve posted some intake sound and video clips of the Frankencar intake in his 02 Max on the Frankencar website.... even if you're not looking for an intake, these are nice clips...

The link is here:

http://www.frankencar.com/media/index.htm

(There are also some exhaust clips of the FC cat-back on here, the same ones that were from Cubanato's Max.)

I have a Berk intake, but from the videos and WAV files, I think mine sounds exactly the same as the Frankencar intake....

Speaking of Berk, there's an intake video clip from the inside of a VQ35 Altima, but it sounds really different from mine. I think it actually sounds more like a Max with an Injen...

That link is:

http://berktechnology.com/Media/BerkAltima.wmv

Enjoy em...

Yeah, I'm gonna start looking around next week for a shop that'll do a short little pipe to replace the resonator section for cheap... since this is just an experiment... don't wanna blow too much money on it, ya know? It may get too obnoxious after that... I'll keep ya posted....

Would that affect the emission test in anyway?

Only if the inspector wants to nail you for excessive noise, unlikely though... but I'd probably just put the resonator piece back in (along with my stock airbox and stock corners) when I go for my safety and emissions inspection.... just to be on the safe side...

Cool...I guess I let you know what I will do with my Stillen rear after I put it on and see what it sounds like. If we both dont like our results maybe we can work something out? Did any one hear of or tried the stock muffler with no res pipe? Wonder what that sounds like?

thats too quiet of a exhuast to spend hundards of dollars on too get a very minimal ammount of sound, and we all know there barley any horsepower increase from it..so we all want more sound if your spending that much money

i have this setup now. i had a local exhaust shop cut the resonator out and replaced it with a 3" pipe all the way from the cat to the stock exhaust. i also have a franken/ apexi intake.

it sounds good when i'm in the car and i stomp on it, but only slightly throatier than what it was before i put on the new pipe. but if it's cold out and i warm it up, if the rpm is a little high, i can get out and listen to it. sounds like crap. there's buzzing at idle. not a rattle like the exhaust is hitting the axle, but buzzing. $180. for a fart can. so i've decided to get a frankencar exhaust (just the rear section. no B pipe). i've wanted one for a while. if it doesn't fix the buzzing sound, THEN i'll get the B pipe.

That's because it seems that you're only in it for the sound.... the Frankencar is a great product... in terms of quality, sound (or the lack of it) and looks, it was worth every penny. I don't need the extra 3-5 hp (if even) from a straight through like a Cattman or GReddy, if not I woulda kept my EVO or paid an extra $200 bucks to get a Cattman (which wasn't worth it to me). I got the FC cuz I liked the look and wanted the quietness, and I got what I wanted... although, it seems that its not really my thing...

I'm in the same exact situation as you man. i paid a shop to make me a full 2.5" piping from the cat to the stock exhaust. They did a good job with the piping except for the welding from the pipe to the stock exhaust which needed to be fixed since there was a leak. Anyway I'm not that happy with the outcome, i was hoping for some more exhaust note from when i got my y-pipe, which i did get, but now there just seems to be too much flow for the stock muffler and now sounds as you described. So i've been looking into the frankencar system, but if i get it i'll most likely get the b-pipe as well, since i would like everything bolt on, but i am very curious to how it sounds with no res. so i'm looking forward to when puppet master does that. and good luck with that btw.

Thanks... still looking for an exhaust shop near me... anyways... seems like there are several people interested in this little "project" of mine... I'll have to find a video camera or something to do before and after sound clips as well....

Lucky baaztadz, I was gonna use my tax money toward my car but dad needed some money. So I have to give him that money.

But I am going to have a major project done to my car soon. Maybe summer time. Keep a look out.
