98 GLE for $7500??
98 GLE for $7500??
I was hoping to get anyone's opinion on a potential purchase. I found an ad for a dark green 98 GLE with 41000 miles. It looks to be completely stock and have all the usual options and standard features. I haven't called about it yet, but I just wanted to see if this was a good price. I double checked on KBB.com and edmunds and it seems to be pretty cheap. Can anyone clue me in on things to look out for specifically for a 4th gen? Thanks in advance!
Are you sure that is the correct mileage? If so it should command a price premium. Basically there is nothing to look out for with a Maxima with that low of mileage, but you might want to get it inspected. Determine if there is a work history and go back and check the mileage over time. Has the vehicle been stored or parked for long time periods previously? Assuming the mileage is correct, the price is probably good. It would sell for a lot more (Cdn$ equvalent) where I'm from.
And of course there is no harm in ****ering.
The obvious question is wouldn't you really rather have a 5-speed?

Thank you for all the replies and advice!! I called the lady that is selling it and she said that it's her boss's car. The reason the mileage is so low is because he only uses it to visit clients and drive them around the city and he drives it to the airport when going on business trips. The only "damage" to it are dings from parking it on the street all the time. The reason for them selling it is because her boss bought a new car. I'm hoping for a test drive today after work, but she said there's 2 other people coming to check it out and she'd call me if nobody buys it by then.

I can carfax ... email at renato_nodarse@ml.com
i can tell you one thing westcoast prices vs. eastcoast prices are very different. here in UT, mostly west, my 98 GLE with 70k was 8900$. so i think that car is a great deal. but you def need to get a carfax.
my friend bought an accord and 2 mo after he bought it he had all these problems. he carfaxed it, and found out it was basically a salvaged car- been wrecked twice and he had no idea. so now he can't sell the damn car

Carfax looks good, the only thing was it failed a emissions/smog check back in October 2004, but it passed 4 days later. Hopefully no one will buy it, so I can at least go check it out. Thanks to everyone again!

Keep shopping--do you want an auto? What is the price for a '99 with low miles? 99 has some add'l features.
I bought my 98 GLE with 69k miles for 6900 less than a month ago. It came out to 7500 with all the taxes and title. I think thats a damn good price for that mileage, you wont be able to find anything like that for less.
2 da max, what do you use on your leather?
