Canadian AE - no body kit?

Wasn't able to find this info in the stickies:

Was the AE body kit available on 2K1 SE AE's sold in Canada? It seems that every one stock AE here (Toronto) has pretty much the plain SE look.

Seems strange, since from what I understand it was standard on US AEs.

Anybody in the know, please confirm/refute.

Thanks.

i can confirm that the US ae has a bodykit from nissan. this is the first i have heard about canadian models being different but then again i do not have any exposure to them. off the top of my head, i cannot figure why they would not have them on unless there were more standard/available options up there and it was price cutting measure. i know a pretty good amount about aes other than just cosmetic stuff but this is the first i have heard of this.

CDN AEs have everything that the US AEs have except the body kit. CDN AEs are not worthy of the kit

The only reason why the body kit is not on the cdn AE is because the dealer want to rip us, I mean I asked few dealer about the AE body kit and they asked my 3000$ CDN ( 2429$ US ) I bought the ABS front & rear for 300$, I'm just missing the side skirt but I dont know if ABS are still making those, otherwise I wont have much choice than buying the Stealin side for 300$ US.

Yeah my point exactly...that body kit is the best part about the AE.

I just searched for all 2k1 Maximas for sale in Toronto area on AutoTrader, there are a few AEs, not a single one has the kit, they all look like regular SEs, just with shiny wheels.

So it appears Canadians get ripped off on this. Anyone know how much would such a kit go for, maybe used or smth?

AceO,

There was a group deal sometime last year from JR Nissan dealer in the U.S. (i think it was that name.. or Jerome something..) for just under US$1000.

If you're really interested call up Dave Burnette @ 1-888-254-6060 and he can give you a quote..

I'm thinking about it, but no $$..

Near as I can figure no Canadian dealers put a gun to the heads of any Canadian consumers and forced them to buy an AE. Buyers knew what they were buying and got what they paid for. If they didn't know they what they were buying, whose fault do you suppose that was? And I seem to recall that the Canadian AE listed for quite a bit lower than the comparable US model, given the exchange rates at the time.

Bottom line - nobody got ripped off.

For what it's worth, I prefer the subtle styling cues of the Canadian-spec AE. Body kits, as a rule, don't do it for me.

No too sure if we have VLSD either!!! The other day, my wife was driving th acr up the driveway (which was very icy),...the left tire kept spinning...although she said the slip indicator went on...one tire kept spinning. If i am not wrong..VLSD stops that right?
BTW..I have an Auto...do autos have VLSD?

Thanks for your input. I didn't realize AE here listed lower, since as a rule cars here cost more given the exchange rate. That might explain a few things.

As for ripping off aspect, I didn't imply that literally, just observing that one of the most desirable AE features (not for you, but for many others) was not available in Canada for unclear reasons.

If indeed the price difference reflected that, I guess it makes sense. But given the bodykit prices mentioned above, it seems to me that the AE premium in Canada only got you as far as regular SE with polished wheels.
