i posted a thread before saying the my car was jerking when i would be stopped at a light or a stop sign. i asked if it was my tranny, that came out to be no. someone suggested coil packs.......now i am not so well educated in cars so i need some help.

what are the coil packs??
how do you know when they have gone bad??
how much is it to repair them??
and finally, could it be anything other than the coil packs, maybe like injectors or something....i also had an inspection today, and it passed.......

any help would be great....MAX

 

They are about $60-70 a peice and the stealership will charge you $700 total to fix. It's easy to fix, check the stickys for instructions. Where your engine cover is, behind that are three ign. coils. There are also three on the back side. They are black and have an electrical harness going into them.

You can check them with a multi-meter. There should be no resistance, and you should have infinite ohms.

It's most likely your coils, very common on the 99's.

You mean infinite current??

 

if your car passed emission inspection its not your coil pack. If you have a bad coil pack the engine will miss.

I think your car is jerking because your transmission fluid is low, or your brake rotors are warped.
