Brake/Rotor recommendations

I know this was asked many times but the forum's search function isn't working correctly. What is everyone's recommendations for my Max? i want a nice cross between OEM performance and street performance. Obviously I don't want to have to sell an arm or a leg but I'm willing to pay whatever if it's worth it. Thanks all!

O yeh, if anyone can find past threads about brake/rotor discussions, please provide links. Thanks again!

Get some Brembo blanks and Hawk performance pads. Good combo.

I have Power Slot rotors with Hawk pads. Nice combo.

EBC slotted/dimpled rotors and EBC Greenstuff pads here. Big big improvement over stock, even with my super-worn brake lines and brake fluid that's long past due for replacement.

If you don't mind actually hearing your brakes (for me it's like a rough "hum", but no squeals), this might work really well for you.

I went with Brembo blanks, and Akebono Pro Act pads. I have been pretty happy with them, but if I would have known about the group deal with the zinc coated rotors, i would have bought those. Either way, I am happy with the rotors and pads that I have now. They came with new shims, and didn't require a break in period, which was nice.

I run the Hawk HPS up front and Axxis Ultimate out back.
Awesome for daily driving, although they do get a bit dusty.

Oh yea, they saved my life today =)

slotted and drilled is pretty much the same thing, more aesthetics than anything. Some say slotted wears brake pads quicker because of the grooves in the rotor. The advantage over blanks is better heat dissipation and much less fading in breaking performance

IMHO.

Drilled and slotted rotors are only for appearance purposes if you keep the rotor the same size. I did not realize and significant stopping power. Slotted is the better of the two because they are less likely to crack. I have drilled myself because I like the way they look. In terms of pad wear, you wont really realize the extra wear in pads unless you are on the track (from what I've heard). Brembo is a very good brand so are Powerslot. You should spend a little more money for zinc plating so that they prevent rust on the parts that dont come in contact with the pads. OEM pads, or Raybestos Quiet stop are good pads to get. Ceramic pads are the stock material. They are quieter and create less dust. Not all ceramic pads are the same though. Some are made better than others.

If you want to feel more stopping power and have the same size, consider flushing the fluid, and changing to steel brake lines.

does anyone know if Bendix rotors are any good? because if so, then instead of getting Brembo blanks with my tax return, i'm just gonna get Hawk pads up front and keep the Bendix rotors since they are fairly new.
