Stupid Signals
Stupid Signals
So I put in LED turn signals in the rear and now my blinker is blinking 80mphs. I was told I need to put a resistor on to stop this but there is a problem in that. First I don't know what a resistor is or how to install one. So I realize that I will most likely be slammed into the ground for asking a dumb question but I need the help. So any assistance would be great! Thanks in advance.
So you were able to put LEDs in the rear, but yet you know nothing of resistors? Interesting. Resistors are just what they're called - they "restrict" a good amount of current, so that, in this case, your blinker won't be so fast. You need to get some, and solder them to the positive prong (leg) of your resistor(s). Look at the LED itself, whichever prong has the smaller piece inside, is the positive. So again, solder a resistor to the positive prong, then place the LED/resistor combo into the bulb socket, and you should be set.
a resistor is just a small piece of wire with a ceramic (and other compounds) piece in the center that only allows a certain amperage/wattage (can't remember my physics 2 class all too clearly) through it.
you can get what you need from radioshack for a few cents
however, I don't know what size you need or where you install them on our cars, my red/clears and orange bulbs are hella bright.. no need for LED's
