it finally hapened
it finally hapened
well it finally happened i got a ticket tonight for my green side marker lights and my green turn signal lights. i've gotten away with it for 3 months so i guess my luck finally ran out so it's back to factory lights for my 2k oh well
i dont' think that would look that good on my green color though, but i might try it, i think that i'm just going to leave the lights out of my sidemarkers i don't think you have to have them
Try green on starboard (right) side and red on on port (left) side -at least that way you can claim you were following the International Lighting rules as spelled out on COLREGS
If you u cant dazzle them with brilliance, u can baffle them with bullchit

I am assumming you have to clear side markers so why not go with amber up front and red in the rear to make it look like sock during the night time so that way cops don't bother you. Or even if you had amber up front and amber in the rear like I have seen on some cars in europe I don't think that would have been a problem. This must have been some small town cop who had nothing better to do.

dont get into this one again...every car has to by law reflect amber in the front and red in the rear...im sure the "Sport edition BMWs" are no different...
i haven't decided what color to put back in, probably will do the amber and put the amber on the tag lights too. the first cop was a **** about things and the second one was pretty cool, i knew it was going to happen sometime and my luck just ran out, but oh well i'll take care of it and to let you know lance it was bethany small town cop is mad that he can't hack it for the OKCPD, jk to all you officers out there, just a joke my buddies that live around here have

Tell the cop your maxima drives like a boat, so you were just following the rules that all other boats have to follow

when i had my clears on, i just left the bulbs out as well. i think it looked better during day and night. i tried a few but could never find a bulb that was truly red so i left them out. i ended up going back to the stock corners w/ bulbs then i painted the clears black to match the paint and left the bulbs out again.

For example, the Lexus RX has clear light housings with amber/red bulbs that do not actually reflect amber/red, but it also has reflective strips to make up for that... note the bottom corner of the rear bumper:

And I couldn't find one picture of a stock BMW with the turn signals cleared out... all of em still have amber in the front..

this is what he is talking about. the "sports" or something have these clear corners, instead of the amber ones, BUT they still have an amber bulb. they arent giving you clear corners and white bulbs.
thats the euro one, this is the USDM one. see, clear "corners" in the one piece headlights, but there are still orange reflectors down in the front, like the Lexus' red reflectors in the rear

just like every BWM you can see the colors from the side:
in the headlights, amber.... in the tails, red.

no "package" is going to change that.

thats ok, its not like im actually WORKING at work. i looked those up, mainly tho to prove your and everyone elses point. there is a amber or red reflector SOMEWHERE. just cuz it isnt in the tails doesnt mean its not there.

He is right. The pic of the BMW with the lady driving with the top down is a european spec BMW. It has the clear lights in the front turn signals but does'nt have the orange refector on the bumper. The other BMW 3 series parked just next to the fence in the pic a US spec BMW. By law it must have the reflector somewhere in the front at the side of the vehicle and this reflector has to be orange. This is a U.S DOT requirement. In fact the European spec BMW has a city light just below the low beam. In some European countries parking lights are referred to as "city lights" and it must be a white light as required but the DOT over there. NOTE: ORANGE PARKING LIGHTS ARE ILLEGAL IN GERMANY. On the other hand the U.S modle 3 series has the parking light coupled with the front turn signals which I really hate. I have seen some people modify their 3 series headlights by adding the"city light" and making the corner lights turn signals only just like the European models.
i knew the second he said that that this thread would be turned into yet another one of the "not all stock cars have orange and red corners" threads....the answer is pure and simple: yes they do...it is a DOT requirement to have these and in the US, there are no exceptions to the rule...
Dang, that lady driving the euro spec really turns me off...hah. Also, if I might add, no car can display blue lights, and the front cannot have more than 4 headlights/foglights.
Remember those mercury minvans(or was it a coupe?) that had a whole row of lights in the front? mustve been a ***** to replace..
