is there any way to stop paint from chipping off? i was in a small fender bender about 2 years ago, and the slight impact left a crack in the paint near the muffler. well, it's flaking off now from all the bass my sub is putting out. is there anything i can spray over it to prevent more of it flaking off? it just needs to be temporary until i can get it repainted.

Oh yeah im sure.

But i dont see why you couldnt just use a few layers of clear coat.Especially if your going to get it repainted soon it doesnt have to look 100% perfect. I would say just use a few layers of clear coat and see how that goes.

 

seriously it did. i was playing a frequency sweep followed by a 50 hz tone and it started to flake off. i was trying to find the car's resonant frequency

Just find clear coat that would be able to handle water and stuff, but yeah regular ol clearcoat i believe will work for you.

 

the first thing you need to do is sand the paint down to a spot that is solid. If its flaking it has to have a point that is sticking. Sand to that point and seal the reas with paint, clear or whatever.

that's the problem...the whole layer flaked off. you can see the yellow underneath. can i still use a little clearcoat?

turn down the bass? i don't know what that means
