Found out why my maxima handles like crap!

So today I finally took my car to see my mechanic because I have no time to work on it... He told me that all the bushings were shot in the control arm(s)... It had gotten pretty bad... Major torque steer, s#!**y handling, pulled to the left. So I ordered a couple control arms from the resident parts guy, Internetautoparts, for much cheaper than at the dealer or autozone... So hopefully this fix my front end problems! And while the max is at the shop I borrowed an 1991 Alfa Romeo 164, so maybe before I give that back I'll pit the 2 cars against each other for an early 90's 4dsc challenge... I think the max will probably win though.

i think mine are shot as well. i go over the slightest bump and it it'll bump steer like a *****. heck, doesn't even have to be a bump. the front end just goes where ever it wants to.

Sounds just like wht my car was doing so its a good thing that you are getting rid of the max... the parts set me back about $140 shipped, the best price I could find around here was $180...

The Alfa isnt that bad... the seats are soo much more comfortable than the maxima... Its amazing, I didnt think there was going to be much of a difference... But less leg room in the alfa... Its got about 200hp from its v6 but it just doesnt seem as powerful as the max(maybe its just because it has 130+K miles on it)... it seems tighter than the max in corners too... but I think anything was tighter than my max at this point!

yeah... if the tranny was still good and i didn't have to deal with the rust issues i would have gladly fixed it. probably would have did some sort of polyurethane setup.

My car has been handling like crap (same crazy steering wheel shudder upon hitting anything bigger than a toothpick, plus front wheels go out of balance every few months) ever since I had the front D.S. axle replaced. Nissan told me that my control arms had play, my mechanic said no. So why would axle replacement damage the CA bushings? This is issue#1 with my car right now, so I will appreciate all the advice I can get.

look at them, feel them.
and just replace the darn things, they're likely original and at least 11 years old!
