Sounds like it is time for a flush. Regular tranny fluid is clear red. How many miles since you last changed the ATF?

There is also a TSB out for your year I30 for a slow 1-2shift which is fixed primarily by an updated TCM software.

yeah, you could do a drain and fill, but I think if I were you I would do a complete flush. I've been draining and filling every 20k miles since new. So my ATF fluid never really gets old. Draining and filling on a car of your age (what is the mileage?) may not be the best option.

Some will say you shouldn't drain and fill after a certain mileage if you aren't having problems, but I never understood that.

Its good preventative maintenance to change it about every 60K miles. But you should always check your fluids color.

I'd say every 30k. But tehre is a TSB for the 1-2 shift slip that states to replace the VB, I just orderd a VB from Max tuning b/c mine was slipping on 1-2, but not the 2-3.

so you think that will solve the problem there telling me to changed my silinoids as well and have everything done at once. I might just do all of that the vb mod and the silinoids.

i had slipping pretty early on in my the transmission's life. i had the tcm and solenoids replaced under warranty and all slipping went away. i also do a drain and refill with mobil 1 atf once a year and run a moderate sized tranny cooler.

Color of the fluid doesn't say anything about the viscosity, oxidation, stability, friction quality etc, Nissan trannys are brutal on fluids and a 30,000 mile OCI with dinos and 60,000 with syn is optimal. Oil analysis should say how far one can extend the OCI.
