something weird (but i dont think serious) happened today

this morning, i went out to the garage and let my car warm up...when i was starting to leave, i put it in reverse and began to take off the clutch and apply the gas...well at first my car wouldn't move, so i checked to see if my E-brake was on and it wasn't, then i checked to see if i put in in 6th instead of reverse, and it was, in fact, in reverse. After that, i tried to move again, and i had to apply quite a bit of throttle to get it to go, and when i started to move, my car mad this huge "POP" noise like i had run over a pressurized can or something. After i backed out of the garage, i got out and looked, and there was nothing there....i have no clue what happened..it probably wasn't serious, but i'm just curious as to what it may have been. My garage floor is completely level, and i keep it in neutral with the e-brake on when it is parked. (just for reference) anybody have any ideas?

i'm thinking that it just had something to do with the brake just not releasing or something, but i wasn't sure, and i was just really wondering what it was...my car had never done anything like it before.

Did it rain the nite before ? or did you maybe wash the car ? My cars brake pads stick to the rotors after hard rain or after a wash. So every morning after a wash or something (usually hit up the free car wash at work when leaving home) when I pull out of my spot I have to give it some gas and then the pads free themselfs off the rotors. Its probably exacly what you are talking bout, and U can't do **** bout it. Its just a loud clunk.

sounds to me like the e-brake not releasing on time.... keep an eye on it for a few days... it will be fine...

yeah that happens when your rotors get wet, and been sitting there for awhile, your calipers stick. its no biggie.

It is so nice that this sh*t happens to other people because everytime I come on this forum, somebody describes something about our cars that really happens. It is nice to know that our forum addresses all this stuff, If not, I'd be at a mechanic half the time. My car makes the same noise sometimes after a rainstorm if it's been sitting for a while and the rotors rust a little.

Happened to me a lot over the winter, seemed like every time I moved the car after it had been sitting this happened. No harm though, just a little scary the first few times.
