help with amp install...

hey guys

i'm trying to figure out where to put the power cable through in the firewall. I've searched but had no luck. I know this is kind of a newbie question but could someone bear with me and point me in the right direction.

thanx
Emil

I had mine punched. But I hear it is behind and above the left foot stop. I guess there is a rubber gromet that runs right thru the firewall.?.

I drilled a hole where the clutch would have gone through. there is a piece of rubber or something you have to take off, but its ez to get to, be sure to put a grommet in before putting your wire through, I've heard of guy not and the metal will chaff the wires causing a short. good luck.

no problem, thats what we are here for, if you have any other issues, feel free to ask. Better to ask then trying to do something and screwing something up, this forum is great. I always come here before I even start a project. good luck.

i finally got a chance to install the cables for my amp today. i drilled a whole in that diamond-shaped area above the left foot stop on the firewall. everything was pretty simple to do, it just took me a while cause i kept cleaning up all the dirt/sand i found as i was putting the cables under the carpet.
well, i got the cables taken care of, now i'm just waiting for my amp and sub to get here.

thanx for the input guys
Emil

What gauge wire did you use and how big of a hole did you drill?

i drilled a 3/8" hole for an 8 gauge wire. i used a grommet and silicone so water don't get in there when i wash the engine.

nice. I have a hole and 8 gauge wire now, but I'm getting 4 gauge wire tommorow and I'm gonna have to make my existing hole bigger. I'm gonna try the silicone technique as well.

their is a huge rbber grommet you can stick wire through i have 0 gauge wire going through it...... You need to jack the car up and remove the wheel well.and then from their theres a rubber grommer which leads right to the firewall

why not just run the cable outside your driver side window around the side mirror and right underneath the hood to the battery? jk fool! drill a hole above where the clutch would be and grommet that puppy, shold be a piece of cake (chocolate too)! good luck dont drill too high or too far, and end up going right thru the brake cylinder!

hardware store, in electrical section. They should be close to the wire connectors, zip ties, electrical tape, etc. BTW what gauge power wire are you running? I just switched today from 8 gauge to 4 gauge and holy sh#t what a difference. My stereo is noticably louder. I knew it would make a difference but not that much of a difference!

good. It should sound loud, and hopefully won't dim your lights.
