Tranny Help before i drive it again Want to Know if is okay to drive!!!!!

my tranny sounds funny, while stopped and proceeding to go into first my tranny(5speed) make a weird noise like when you first try and start a lawn mower but in a very dull low tone kinda like a rock rolling or something then after it makes that noise it makes a noise like a squeaky kitchen cabinet hindge, but it goes away after 2 or 3 seconds, i went home and looked under the car and the part of the tranny that is closest to the driver side fender had black stuff caked on it i have no clue what is going on and thought you maxima experts would know

please help thanks

*Check your resevoir and see how much fluid is still in there.
*Do you hear the noise when you ONLY clutch in? or When you clutch in and try to put it in gear?
*The squeak could be that shaft behind the clutch pedal itself getting dry and in need of lubricating. Maybe get down by the pedal listen with youe ear and push in the pedal by hand (of course if the noises you hear are when you only clutch in).

Maybe something above can help. I know when trying to extend the life of a potentially dying/wounded tranny (clutch maybe). Adjust the grab point (clooser to the floor) and a bleed can work wonders also.

did you get your clutch changed at that time?

if so did you break in the clutch ?

edit: if you got it installed only a 1000 miles ago everything should still be underwarante, It maybe a good idea to take it back to where you had the work done and have them check it out, if you havent dont anything abusing or just done normal driving since you got the tranny it could just be an install error.

your really suppost to baby its for the first 500 mile and then after that you can be harder on it but not before then. Not to say that your situation now is a direct result of it but it could be the issue in this case.

If your hearing noises and such, it could be you got a bad tranny, which would be covered under warantee and you should get a free rebuild, or something was installed incorrectly. I'd try taking it back to the shop and get them to look at it.
