stalling when car isnt warmed up?? and in reverse only

I have a weird problem with my car....its runs perfect when warmed up. Only problem i have is when its not warmed up(like the first start in the morning or after getting out of movie) the car will stall or the rpms will stumble in reverse. any ideas of what could be causing this??

p.s. so far to try and solve this i replaced 2 worn vacuum hoses, a 6 plugs, cleaned out my tb and iacv. nothing has worked yet

You cleaned the IACV, but is it operational?

Check the resistance on your CTS (Coolant Temperature Sensor). The procedure is outlined in the Haynes manual. Even if it is not throwing a code it may still be acting up.

If this is the problem, it is an easy part to replace, and it only cost about $25 bucks.

Same thing happened to me. My ECTS is new, my spark plugs are new. Basically all the major parts under my hood are new. It doesn't do it as bad now that the weather is warmer, it was MUCH worse in the winter. Still don't know what could be the problem. Maybe the torque converter is going.

I seem to have the same problem with my 98SE. It stalls on when trying to put it in gear when the car is cold. How did you resolve this issue?

I figured out why my car was stalling reverse out too!!! I have an Injen CAI. The wires going into the MAF went bad from all the movement of the CAI piping. I soldered on a new one and she runs perfect.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but i am having this exact problem. Is it safe to say this is a MAF issue? One day it was real bad, kept stalling when trying to park and i took a look under the hood with the engine running, the MAF wiring had a leaf stuck between(dont ask) and after removing it, it stalled again. started up again and then no problems. But just today it has started again, but only in reverse. Help me out.
