just hit 90K - doing a 600 mile road trip today

I guess this would be one of those "I LOVE MY MAX" posts.

i just hit the big nine-o and had my servicing done. new air filter, oil & filter, tranny and radiator flush, rotate and balance tires. even GETTING it done was less than 150 (cost over 600 for the wifey's 2001 GS300 LMAO)!!!

and muchas gracias to the various posters for the tips on replacing my windshield washer motor last weekend. piece of cake...

so of course... it's time for...a ROAD TRIP!!!

i'm going to visit my daughter, son-in-law, and grand-daughter in tennessee, ostensibly to refinish the oak floors in her old house and then paint the inside (then it goes on the market). but of course it's a chance to drive the car in solitude (no wifey LOL). it's a nice drive - the last part up I-59 from birmingham, AL to chattanooga TN is beautiful, smooth, and there's no cops so you can drive like hell (i usually just set the cruise on 80, but occasionally have a little fun if some one else is going nuts too).

i just find it amazing how well built Max's are - 10 years old, still in great shape, drives PERFECT, gets 26MPG at a steady 80 MPH (if i slowed down to 65, i bet i could push 30!!!) - AND NO CAR PAYMENT!!!

getting my 95 SE for $5900 2 years ago may have been the BEST car purchase i've EVER made (wish i had leather though LOL).

anyway, just looking forward to making a nice, long drive in my freshly-serviced car!!!

I hope you arrive @ your destination safely. A car well taken care of will take care of you.
It amazes me that a 50 year old (around the same age as my dad) likes to take his car up above 80. As a younger driver its not something you see or hear everyday.
I hope when im older and more wise I will still be into cars as I am now.

thanks - and BTW, i ain't 50 yet, sucka (just turned 48) !!!

i'll get close to 90 for a few minutes ON OCCASION, but normally i just set the cruise at 80 - little chance of a ticket, and you make good time. the car feels very safe and stable at that speed or i wouldn't do it.

when i was young and dumb (in the mid 70s), i took my 67 Mustang up to about 120 a couple of times - now THAT was dangerous!!!

You should have also cleaned your throttle body at 90K Mi.

How nice. The best car to speed in is a Max, since most cops. ...and potential challengers.....look at them and see Japan ,Inc.......not Speed Limit wasting power. A white max is the best Q-ship N issan ever made... pun intended.

The VQ isn't even broken in yet. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal on the servicing, but most of it is easy should you want to do it the next time around. I hope you get many more miles out of her.

Spread the word....maxima's are undoubtedly one of the best cars on the road. With the 5th gear acceleration, I've put mine up to 120 or so a few times without tickets (knock on wood). 120 in the old mustang? I hit 145 in my old mustang GT on a few occasions, yeah im a little bit nuts.
