if you look at any STS shifter installed on the 4th gen, it all looks the same. they all look closer to the shifter trim in a forward position, why did the companies design it like that?

BTW: its been over 700+ posts and i finally donated...

B&M and most of the STSs were not designed for our cars. Most FWD Nissans until around 2002 or so had the same shifter design. Thus if you make the shifter for one car; it works for all of them. The B&M was designed for the G20. Since the Sentra and 200sx are all on the same platform, they don't have a problem. One thing that does change throughout the FWD Nissan cars is the angle the shifter rod is bent. Since it doesn't vary a ton they weren't going to try to produce a different shifter rod for every different angle and every different car. It is nice for them to be able to keep it as universal as possible.

Most of the other shifter companies either copied some elses design, were still designed for the sentra, or if they were actually designed for the Maxima then they just didn't take enough time to properly design it to not move the whole shifter forward.

Put some washers under the front bolt of the sts base mount...that'll help.

(I do not condone any such action in any way...)
