One thing I've read suggests: open your hood and bounce the car up and down on - look for any movement near/of the strut mount. If it moves, the mount is bad. I've never used this method, so I can't vouch for its accuracy - but it makes sense.

My front mounts are shot. If you look at the springs and have someone turn the wheel you can see the tension build and then release, causing the clunk. It's really annoying. It should be an easy fix. If I could just find the time.

That is not the mount that is shot. In your case the problem is the strut bearing - this is a common failure on the 4th Gens. The parts are cheap (15 bucks per side), but you have to pull off the entire strut/spring assembly to replace the bearings.

My bad. I thought the bearing was part of the mount kit. Thats what advance auto told me when I called for pricing.

I ment the little incline that goes up into parking lots or gas stations etc... =P

I'd start by looking for a loose bolt at the top of the strut tower, the 3 mounting bolts and the center -strut retainming nut. Also shake the car up and down while viewing the retaining nut.If it move around its most likely the strut mount. Then take the wheel off and inspect the condition of the sway bar bushings and end links.
