Who told you that It's false, drive it like you normally do with no special treatment, unless you're super paranoid

I find that hard to believe.

A valve body doesn't break in, and the ECU doesn't control the tranny.

It shifts all hard all the time whether you want it to or not. The TCM controls the tranny. And what they do has nothing to do with the TCM, only mechaically. But if you do get it, enjoy, and get a VI + Extende rev limiter b/c w/o the limiter it will shift quite fast therefor leave you in a dead spot in the next grear.

Under the center console, just in front of the ECU.

I thought the BCM was by the trunk?

TCM is right under your radio/CD player.

When driving with a stock VB there's a little slipappage leading you to be in a slighter higher RPM when the next gear engages, most notable in the 1-2 shift, leaving you about 4.4k (stock). The VB mod quickens the process and leaves you about 3.8-4k which is a little low considering how tall the gears are. One thing to consider, extended rev limiter.

yup, ECU is now available for an additional 50 bucks for 99s. I noticed that dead spot in the rpm when using my DR. I got faster times w/o it, but faster speeds with it. Extended limiter here i come. Oh yeah, SOL means **** out of luck

and as always us 98 owners are pretty much SOL when it comes to a workable ECU solution.

For those 98 owners out there, I'm working on comparison study between the older ECU's and the 98 ECU's, but unless I have a little better idea of what it is JWT is doing to work their magic, my research is pretty much useless. Can anyone give me an idea of what it is that JWT is modifying?

OK so I read the article on vqpower.com about the vb mod and maybe I missed something, but it looks to me like he is just removing the vb. then putting everything back together. Someone please explain this a little better, take a look at the article and tell me if I missed something. It under DIY section.

i got my VB done by jeff last summer. and he told me i can use it to its full potential right away. and now, almost a year later, it is still working like he had just put it in a day ago.

They are probably explaining how to REMOVE it for shipping to company who does the work. Not howto do the ACTUAL VBmod

You buy it already modified, all you do is put the modified unit in there, so it's a direct replacement.

And describe "better" Maximumtuning provides an excellent array of options. Stage I, II, II.5, and III. What more do you want?
