the rear setup bottoms out really easily and the ride is super harsh. i've had them on for almost a year and the ride never got better. does anyone else experience this? i might switch over to the Illuminas for the adjustability of the ride comfort.

 

the blues should be fine...maybe a little bouncy but shouldnt be that bad. From what I heard here in the org, blues are the same as illuminas set at 2F/3R. I mean I have Tein H tech matched with the Blues along with several members here and we are all happy with the ride. Perhaps they are blown?

did you trim the bumpstops?

 

hmmm i don't think i did. i don't remember ever being told that i had to though. how much am i supposed to trim them? is that even going to cure the harsh ride? the front doesn't bottom out only the back. but everytime i go over a bump or a crack in the road everything in my car rattles/shakes, its annouying.

 

it could be just the progress springs. im not a big fan of them but some people are. Edibach,tein and such have a much smoother and tighter ride. Right now i have the Koni struts and tein stech springs and the setup is very very nice. I guess check the bump stops, trim them a little bit and then see where you are at. if that fails. try tightening up the rear alil maybe. Sorry if it doesnt help. im not a major expert. good luck.

 

I'm not sure how much you have to trim off for the progress springs...maybe another member can step in. But my mechanics told me that bumpstops are there to protect your shocks/struts from blowing but it also limits suspension travel (therefore harsher ride and bottoming out). A lot of Honda peeps dont even use bumpstops and they blow shocks left and right.

even on my stocks its rough over there, i dont think its the bumpstops, it could be your struts... but trim your bumpstops anywyas, if that doesnt do it, then get new struts, and different springs. h-techs are pretty good.

 

trim about 1/3 of the bumpstop. i think 1/3 measures out to about an inch.

by the way i have the same set-up, and it's fine.

 

Compared to the other common lowering springs for the Maxima, the Progress springs drop the car pretty far. If you never trimmed your bumpstops, then you're probably riding pretty close to them all the time.

 

Never trimmed my bumpstops and I was fine... I had Progress/HPs... only bottomed out on the biggest bumps... the set-up was definitely bouncy but not harsh at all, it was actually kinda soft for me. Just upgraded to Illuminas (running 4F 4R) and its much better damping than the HPs. PM me if ya have further questions about the Progress/HP set-up... I had it for about 5k miles.
