MEVI install question....read the FAQ's

ive been on the org searching all for a while now reading and trying to take in all the mevi info i can and i have ordered from a used intake manifold and some of the install componets.I am also not sure if this will be diffrent because my car is a 1999 with California emissions. Here is what i am getting

MEVI w/cover
Nissan Vaccum canister
Harlan RPM switch
Nissan switch to make it open/wired up
some vacuum hoses attched to the vacuum canister

I know i will need to order new gaskets and some other things

1..nissan vac cannister(a.k.a pressure tank) (call nissan dealer nissan part # 22370-2y500)price varied$26.50-$30.00

2..vacuum solenoid(ac delco solenoid $9.95)GM PART #1997152 type this number in the upper left corner slot at www.gmpartsdirect.com

3..summit racing rpm switch-$45.95 www.summitracing.com,or 1-800-230-3030

EGR Gasket - Nissan Part Number: 14120G-38U02

Anyone has the part # for the upper/lower intake manifold gasket

Throttle Body Gasket: 16175-31U01

If you are careful, you don't need to get any gaskets.

The only gasket I needed was the throttlebody gasket because it was dried out. the VI did come with the manifold gasket so it was replaced.

Harlan RPM switch = Go with the Summit and save yourself from hell.

If you get the GM solenoid, head over to a GMC dealership (like I did) to get the connector for it. It makes hookup so much easier. I took the solenoid in with me to have it matched up.

Since you are the local expert would you be able to give me a hand with this install? pretty please?
I can't seem to find the part number for the gasket that goes between the upper and lower intake manifolds.

Chances are you may not even need it. Even when taking mine off it wasn't in terrible shape where it couldn't be reused. I just didn't reuse mine because my VI came with a new one. I will need to reload Nissan Fast to get the part numbers and I'm not home yet so hang in there.

When do you plan on doing it? I damn sure hope it doesn't rain on the day you pick. As of now, it's going to rian until mid next week.

Chances are you can just put it in the car without even tinkering with it then (the Harlan). I might be able to hook up with you on the 5th of June but I will have to see what's going on with the family first.

I think you should get the 7200 rpm. I have the 7000 rpm rev limit and always shift lower so as not to hit the rev limit. I obviously am not getting the full 7000rpm range that is still safe. I would also recommend a shift light which is very helpful in 1st/2nd gears where the rpm's come up extremely fast.

That is what i was thinking. Ben at JWT was telling me that i should only get 7000rpm because that is the most they think the stock drivetrain can manage. He said they will do 7200rpm but they will have to do a disclaimer.
My question is the extra 200rpm be benificial. I know i don't have to always shift at 72000rpm but do i need it?

That's kind of what TS says too. I have 7100 but I never see it in most of my drives anyway. It's mainly for track use.

I don't know about this weekend because I've been doing a lot of hours at work during the week and my wife and kids will want to spend some time with me. Even if you go ahead with the install without me, I can help with the vacuum and electronics via PM.

i think i will just hold off... im nervous about doing this myself with someone with prior experience so whenever you can squeeze me in will be fine.
Any luck with the gasket parts number so i can order these while i wait?

Red loctite: Good man!!!

193wtq currently? : You're going to loose about 10 of that unless you have the ECU. With the ECU you'll either stay the same or add fractionally more.

7000 or 7200rpm rev limiter: Years ago Neal did a Cartest run with the 7000 vs 7200 limiters and found the 7200 limiter made the car ~0.04 seconds quicker (ie nothing truely measureable). I could have gotten the 7200 limiter, but got the 7000rpm limiter for peace of mind.

Gaskets: Use new gaskets for peace of mind and your sanity. Make sure to tighten everything to Nissan specs and in the correct order. That's very important.

Ive read that some still had their screws come loose even aftyer using the red loctite.
Anyone ever consider just using JB weld to hold them in place as a cheap/quick fix instead of actually welding them in?
