Hissing noise when shifting gears? Is it a mod?

Ever watch sports cars such as porche etc.. ?
When the guy shifts gears it makes a hissing noise..

what is this coming from??

I dunno, but my turbo civic's wastegate used to do it all the time when I let off the gas.

that comes from the release of compressed air. normally that would be vented of due to the closing of the throttle body and the blow off valve or diverter valve letting the extra boost run out into the system at a different point or into open air. i think thats right.

Haha, we had a guy come into the 3rd gen folder and ask how hard it would be to add a BOV to our cars. Poor guy never knew it came from turbo.

its a mod...a very expensive one. and it also is a byproduct of making your car a lot faster

theres also something called air shifting, its for drag cars, other than that i know nothing about it.

its a blow off valve, hissing noise ahhahah. thats funny. its used so that the power produced from turbos doesnt ruin your internals. Lets air out notice the hissssing noise.

No it's not. The BOV is there to save the compressor from compressor surge, not the engine.

they make fake noise makers to make your car sound like you have a turbo. it's like $150
