rest of exhaust

couple questions, i am about to order a cat-back system and a cat-converter for my max, i dont think the cat is bad, just thinking about replacing it since im replacing everything else. i am gonna get the warpspeed magnaflow SS cat-back system with the dual tip muffler. that adds HP right??? the price for that is $315 and a cat-converter for $100 plus shipping, is this a good deal, i am low on money, but i need this stuff, plus i want more HP!!!

You may need more intake because you can't fart without food.

The question is, is it a high flow cat?

The Exhaust from warpspeed will free up some ponies. But the cat can still be restrictive.

well that will defintely free up some horses. But like dadsmax said above. It won't release a lot without a good intake to match. Also, what type of ignition system do you have? I hope it's not still stock.

Save your money. The gains you realize will be mostly in your head and not at the wheels. $415 buys a lot of maintenance parts. Save it for that. Trust me on this. I have many miles behind the wheel of a VG auto and I have basically every bolt on there is with the exception of a UDP. It wasn't worth it.

why should he upgrade the ignition? unless you're pushing boost or nitrous the stock ignition is strong enough.

Well it all depends upon the plugs he's running. We all know platinum sucks in our cars. And I've noticed a much smoother idle when I switched out my wires for NGK. May not have given me any HP... but there was a noticable difference.

I'm working on getting every bolt on... and I've noticed a big difference between what I started with, and what I have now. But maybe it has to be a SE thing.

Also a nice little note... suspension plays a key role on keeping those horses to the ground. I know, cause I still have the crummy stock struts on...

Next upgrade... Koni's with Eibach

kinda thought it was a waste, i do need the cat-back at least, the resignator has an inch hole in it, and the muffler is torn to shreds, will never pass inspection, NJ is tough with inspection too.

Oh please do not tell me Bosch 4s. Because they kick our car's butt. The best that have been found for ours is the NGK V-powers. And they're not that expensive.

I'm not suggesting a MSD ignition. God even I don't need that. But a hotter spark never hurt when you upgraded the intake and exhaust.

eh, I'd just have a new cat back bent at an exhaust shop. substitute a glasspack for the resonator, and get your choice of muffler and cat..

My VG runs fine on bosch plats, has for the past 12 years...

why bother with the resonator or glass pack subsitute period? I just had 2.5" piping done from the cat to the muffler.
