You WILL need the z32 maf if you dont want to blow something.

The A32 (4th gen Maxima) maf is calibrated over a range of airflow, the maximum of which translates to about 340-350 hp at the flywheel, or about 290 hp at the wheels.

A supercharger or turbocharger running enough boost will exceed that amount of air, and at that point the maf signal will not reflect the true amount of air going into the engine. If you have an airflow referenced fuel management system that relies on accurate airflow measurement to control fuel injector duty cycle, then you must upgrade to a maf that can measure the full amount of air being pumped into the engine. And you have to have the ecu fuel maps calibrated for the particular maf you are using.

On the other hand, if you have a manifold pressure referenced fuel management system such as the Vortech or Cartech fmu, you can keep the A32 maf. It doesn't matter how much the airflow exceeds the maf's capability because the fmu supplies extra fuel by increasing the fuel pressure according to how much boost is being developed.

Stupid question, but do I still have to upgrade to a z32 even with Emanage. I imagine the answer is yes, I just don't want to do it.

you dont have to, but if you exceed the airflow that the a32 MAF can handle, then you do. Emanage does have a MAP harness, but you would have to make those maps from scratch, since no one else on the board has constructed one.
