24 hour Road Side Assistance???

I thought new nissans come with 24 hour roadside assistance?
my sister has 04 Murano. she called me today and told me that it broke down.
i told her to call 24 hour roadside assistance, but she said she couldn't find
the number for roadside assistance. so I looked up the manuals from my max.
I couldn't find the number for 24 hour roadside assistance anywhere in the
manual.

all the dealers are closed now, and towing company said they would have to
charge extra to tow it since it's after hour towing.

she will tow it to the dealer tomorrow morning. i hope she gets free loaner car.....nissan service sucks...

My new Max never came with roadside assistance. A loaner was pretty much out of the question. My local dealer said one person who had a loaner got in a head on and ruined it. I still think they are just too cheap and that was BS. IF you have the extended Nissan warranty I think that covers a loaner though. I never got the extended warranty. I go with USAA insurance and have roadside and towing with them.....screw Nissan. And yes.....their customer service does suck. Still waiting over 3 weeks for new chrome roof trim that was faded. No calls from the dealer or status updates.....but to be expected from the dealer I gave the worst customer service survey rating to Nissan USA than any other car dealer I have dealt with.

My advice...if you do not have the extended warranty....go through your auto insurance policy provider....pay a few bucks extra a month for roadside assistance, towing, and loaner insurance.....you will thank me later. Just my personal experience.

That's correct....the extended warranty has roadside assistance and covers a loaner, normal warranty does not. If you are interested, you can still get the extended warranty. And, you don't have to go through your dealer. Call lots of dealers for quotes. I got mine after I bought my car. I called every dealer I had a number for and told them "I'm shopping for an extended warranty. If you give me the best price, I'll be calling you by the end of the day to purchase". Unbelievably, even with that statement, I got quotes nearly double that of the lowest quote. So, shop around if you are looking for extended.

Missjane,
Does the warranty have to be purchased before the 36k mile mark? Or can you purchase one at any mileage? Thanks. About how much for an extended warranty?

this can be purchased at any time, it cost about 1500..... you can transfer it to another nissan if you deside to trade also......

It can be purchased at any time, I believe, but as the miles go up, the cost goes up. I got the Gold Extended warranty for 72,000 miles/6 years for $775. But, like I said, shop around. I had another dealer quote me double that cost. You can also get different mileage/years options at different costs.

yeah missjane gets my super props for getting the deal of a lifetime on the extended warranty. I felt ashamed finding this out. It was the one factor I just went ahead and bought w/o thinking I could bargin for it. They didn't even offer it. I just knew I wanted it and asked to buy it.

Once realizing 7 years/70k miles is not reasonable for me (13k 1st year) I asked about bumping it to 7/100k. they said I could (get a refund and buy it again), but should just wait until it almost expires and buy another one for after it. You can also drop the $50 deductible at any time for only $200. So if I need service and feel it's worth it, I will pay up $200 and not have a deductible anymore.

Nissan service sucks because she can't find the phone number???

I had no trouble finding the number in my owners manual/documents in my glove compartment. When she does find it, make sure she writes it down or keeps in in her cell phone/PDA so if she's locked out she still has access to the number.

If you were never told you get 24 hour service or a loaner, why would you assume and then say Nissan sucks? This came up before and people cried how they were going to sell their new car when they found this out. Once again, if something like this is so important to you, ASK when you purchase the car.

You will be told: "24 hour assitance and paid rentals come with the extended service."

This complaint is along the lines "I thought my GM has OnStar. Their service sucks b/c I can't find the number and I don't know if I pay for the service."

AAA for about $40 a year. Roadside assistance and rental coverage on most insurance is about $50 a year.

I bought my warranty through WarrantyDirect.com

http://www.warrantydirect.com/

I got the secureplus package with emissions for 1590, and it comes with free towing, rental reinbursement, and even out of pocket expenses if I am 100 miles away and my Max needs repairs.

I didnt even shop for the warrany at the Nissan dealer, I was just ready to get the fu** out of there and drive my max. Bastar** didnt even fill my Max up all the way nor would they install my front license bracket (it's not required in Tennessee, and when I asked them to do it, they said they didnt)

On an additional note, now i'm looking for a 10mm drill bit to do that and I'm scared i will screw my Max up. If someone would PM me please about doing it or what they did and did not do, I would appreciate it.

don't get offended you nissan fanatics....
I love my max, but nissan service sucks indeed. I'm saying this from what
I've experienced, not just because she couldn't get the number.

I purchased the Gold Extended and it has been worth it so far. The Max has been in the shop 4 (about to be 5) times and I bought the car Nov 04. So far I have been given a Lincoln LS, Armada, and an Altima. So at least I was able to drive decent cars while mine was in the shop. I only bought the 40k-mile warranty so I could get 2 points lower on my interest rate. I only paid around $400.00 for it, which satisfied me making my payments drop.

I didn't get RSA with my new max, but it's cheap enough to get as a rider on your insurance or through AAA. I pay 15.00 a year for my classic through Hagerty Ins. Co.

Its easily found in the warranty/service manual (not the owners manual).....the number is posted on 2 or 3 of the pages and gives details of what is covered + service
maybe its diff for US customers... but here I get roadside assis. & even get the trip planning etc.. nice maps etc.. for no extra warranty coverage!! tho i'm sure nissan (or any other car manufacturer) knows that the chance of needing it in the first 3 yrs is almost nill!!

I've got my roadside assistance through The Auto Club. www.theautoclub.com For $6.99 a month plus $2.50 for tire / wheel protection, I get some pretty good benefits.
