Loud LOUD squeaking sound.

Today I'm just about to stop at a stop sign and hear this LOUD squeaking sound. I get out of the car, and push down on the drivers front fender and I get the squeaking sound. I can't tell where it's coming from, but it's never happened before, anyone have any clue what it could be? Car seems to drive fine even with the squeaks.

Squeaks when you push the car up/down? or when you rev or what? it could be the tensioner/idler pulley that is shot.

I ran into what I think is the same problem you are experiencing...Look underneath the front door at your rocker panels, where you put the car jack, if the metal is bent and twisted this could be the source of your problem. If you straighten it out it should take care of the problem. If everything looks straight...keep looking.

If I push the car up and down, it squeaks. If I pass over small bumps in the road, no matter how small, I get the squeaking. It's sort of on and off though, it stopped doing it for like an hour or two, then it started hapenning again.

Could be your brakes ... i just had my 2 front rotors, calipers, brake lines and brakes replaced... it stopped squeeking for a bit and just started again today.. gonna have to take the car back and see wtf the deal is.

also if you said it's over bumps it could be your springs... push up and down on your trunk and see if your max squeeks.. if yes then springs could be the problem..

- good luck

Swaybar linkages. If it sounds like a bird chirping every time you compress the suspension, that's probably what it is.

You may also want to check up on your front suspension.

hm...I have a squeeking sounds too, its reallllyyy loud. But it only happens when the car is cold. When i take it out and put the brakes on the first two times, i'll get the squeeking and then it'll just go away. got the pads and calipers replaced just last week too, and it started after that. Took it to the mechanic yesterday, he said he didnt hear anything and the breaks were fine. the sounds still there...really strange.

Seems like an epidemic. I had my brakes, rotors, struts and springs replaced 4 months ago. Now I have the same sound, driving me nuts. I had so much work done at one time though, i didn't know where to begin. I think I agree with Edmonius though about the sway bar linkages. I lubed one joint at a time and tested it and it went away for a day after I did that linkage. If you figure it out though, I'd love to know.

All i can say is Ball JointS. I work @ a Nissan dealer. Im the parts guy. They randomly go. What happens is water over time seeps into the ball joints causing them to corrode from the inside. That is why they squeak. Theyre pretty inexpensive and pretty easy to change. Good Luck!

Dunno, hopefully I can get it resolved quickly, as soon as I know what's going on, I'll post it up.

It could be your struts, or you smoking some funky sutff.

Same scenario as most.

I had the following changed in this order over the span of 2 months:

-New lowering springs
-New struts
-Front rotors
-Front pads
-Rear pads

I get a creaking noise from the rear left suspension area and mostly when it's cold. Other than the new springs/struts, everything else is original on the suspension. It's killing me, but with the radio on and it only happening occasionally it livable, but so damn annoying.

Still have it, i thought it was gone but its not. When I break past a certain point it stops, as long as i'm driving straight or turning on any road its loud. It does it right at take off no matter how slow or fast I take off.....

Bumpstops might be bad for some of you guys. Got rid of sound #1 for me (out of three mysterious sounds I recently got rid of). Typical symptoms is squeakiness when going over bumps or potholes, especially if the bump is only on one side of the car.

Sound #2 was the strut bearings, but no symptoms listed here match that. That would be more of a "BOIINGG" sound when the spring winds up while turning.

Sound #3 was harder to find, it turned out to be the plastic lining in my wheel well. It had cracked a bit and had enough play that it occasionally rubbed against the tire causing LOUD noise. Check out your wheel wells if all else fails.

Good luck.

OK Squeak is gone. It was the sway bar pins. Got them replaced and there are no more noises. Hope this helps others.

Is it really the pins that squeal or the worn bushings?

probably the bushings, but the pins and bushings are sold as one piece. Plus I was able to upgrade to greasable bushings. The OEM ones are not.
