how to turn off airbag light?

I recently took out my in cabin filter to clean it and i had to unplug the airbag sensor to get my filter out. I read the housecor instructions that said not to unplug it but the wire was getting in the way so I did it anyway, now my airbag light is blinking. I searched and found this http://forums.maxima.org/showpost.ph...&postcount=100 link but its not working. Can anybody help me with this?

Thanks.

im not an autority on it, but did you have the battery disconnected when you did this? lucky the airbag didnt blow up in your face! If you havent already, reconnect the airbag connector, and let your whip sit for an hour or two with the battery disconnected, see if that makes it go away.
I just did the same thing to my filter this weekend, but made sure not to unplug that wire....it was even close to being in my way though. My biggest issue was when i put everything back together, the metal piece inside the glovebox, that the glovebox 'door' latches onto, had a small metal clip attatched to it,and dont no where it goes. It seems to open and close and stay latched without it though,so i dunno

here's what I've found for 2002-2003 Maximas

The light should be gone unless the problem remains. Try it again if it fails. If it still remains on, you'll need to visit a dealer to have the problem looked at.

Another technique from STUDMAN. Procedure is little different.

Note: Timing is KEY, use a stopwatch if you have to.

1) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)
2) After the AIRBAG warning lamp lights for 7 seconds and then goes out, turn IGNITION off within 1 second.
3) Wait 4 seconds
4) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)
5) After the AIRBAG warning lamp lights for 7 seconds and then goes out, turn IGNITION off within 1 second.
6) Wait 4 seconds

12) Turn IGNITION off
13) Wait 2 seconds
14) START Car
15) Turn IGNITION off

AIRBAG warning lamp should blink for 7 seconds and then go out and never come back on. If it does, then you have a problem.

i bet if you take apart the piece the buckle goes into, you'll be able to find a little button or sum'n that you can disable or tape down so it thinks your buckled in. I assume you dont want to jam something in there for good, cause you wont be able to use your seatbelt.

when you wait for the airbag light to go on is it when it first starts to blink? or when it first comes on? because when i first turn my ignition on everything is lit then after about 3 seconds the airbag light starts to blink. at what point do you start counting?

you start to count as soon as you turn your key.

nice!! thanks it worked.

instead of counting to 7 i just waited for the airbag light to start blinking on the first blink i just shut off the ignition and counted 4 seconds and continued with the directions. that seemed to be more accurate than counting with a stop watch.

thanks for the help.
