according to blackbirdvq, his maf's have slowly and continuously gone down hill... he's on his 4th or 5th. I wonder if we should be changing this thing out every 75k... seems like a worthwhile investment

is it worth it to try to clean your maf first? or is that a case of doing more harm than good?

Hey Lontar, did you get the stronger 2k1 MAF or just get an OEM 2000 replacement?

I'd suggest getting a new filter to go along with your new MAF otherwise it might sour quickly. Atleast thats what happened to me, changed the MAF and not the filter and a month later it was back in the dumps....live and learn tho.

The one I got was the 01 MAF updated version. I have an 01 SE but don't know if they use the old one.

Lontar: Curious to know if you got the special torx-t20 screwdriver with a dimple in the center OR used some pliers to bring the old one out.

I searched for the "security" torx-t20 screw driver for sometime now -- stopped searching since I have spent more gas trying to find it than the price of the screwdriver.

No need for pics or writeups. It's the easiest thing you can do on your car, especially if you have a 2k or 2k1. I put a new one on mine and it's amazing. DaveB's the man.

the one DaveB sold me was the one with the whole assembly, so I only remove 4 screws form the airbox, not the MAF itself. DaveB's number 1-888-254-6060

I was thinking to make all maxima owners happy make little signs and when u see a max in a parking lot putit on their window tell them to visit this site and think about replacing their MAF sensor, I've heard of a lot of stories of people hating maximas because they are slow due to bad MAF sensors and than they sell the car because of that. 99% of the time it is a MAF sensor. Dumb idea or no?

I replaced mine at 93k, cause it was dead. Car wouldn't rev past 2500 rpm. The car was awesome with new MAF. Now, at 105k, car feels sluggish, specialy after it warms up. I wonder if MAF is dying again? It pulls great when its cold, but I don't rev it high when not warm. I might have to put in new maf, just to make sure. Could it be clogged cat?? Any ideas, guys?

hmmm being that Nissan is idiots to you in a lot of ways, I wouldn't try it. Somehow they'll get you paying for SOMETHING or other, or just saying that it's your fault it went bad and not do anything, than your stuck with a car that runs like crap. Just put out the $90 and get one.

Has anyone replaced a MAF on a '03 Maxima? My car just hit 75k and I'm wondering if it's something I should get replaced.

Is my MAF going? I have slight hesitations, but at 3500 prm i can feel a miss in the engine. It seems to pull steady after 3500.

I have a 2000 se with 88k miles.
