Hehehe... $30k for a VW Golf. Ouch.

But when you look at it, with AWD he'll eat your lunch from a stop every day, but if he's stock he's not running away from a Max if you keep your foot down.

If you're already moving then he's gonna keep up, but he's only gonna whip around you and be gone if you drive conservatively, which is what it sounds like you were doing.

Ithink this is more suited for the weekend battles forum under general maxima discussion....but yeah those are very fast and pretty rare.

Naaah it's still a GOlf. ANyway they say the max is only 222HP on the wheels, where it counts. Yep, I know it hurts, but it's the truth....

You know, looking back @ it, I didn't have it floored @ all (maybe 2/3 to 3/4 of the way--I tend to pamper my car, not abuse by flooring it)...but I practically NEVER have to floor it when I do decide to "play" around w/ someone... If he had it floored, then that would explain it... And BLAXIMA2K4, if you beat 2 of them last year and you also have an automatic such as I, then I'm not worried about it... Maybe my air filter needs cleaning...??? I run a K&N, but I have over 16,000 miles w/o having cleaned it yet. We both had our windows up in 90 degree weather, so I'm assuming he had his a/c on--unless he did like I use to do when I was a lot younger and turn my a/c off when I knew I needed to "hit it"... And I do remember reading that the R32 was AWD, and you're right. From a dead stop, the MAX doesn't match up. Oh well, next time, I'll be ready for it...

if you use the manual matic tranny you will have to drop to 3rd if you are under 80 mph's to get the rpm's to jump high on the band and get some pull out of it...

next time do this, or in your own time get to know what happens when you do it and next time you will do it automaticly..

I owned a GTI badly when I first got the max. It was from a light and I was cars ahead by third gear. Golfs can be made quick though.
